Title says it all. Seeing how viable a last minute weekend plan is. Need something to do on Sunday (strong preference for outdoors), ideally about half way back from Pittsburgh towards Baltimore.

Any ideas welcome.

Is Gettysburg close? There’s the Flight 93 memorial too. Just 2 that come to mind, don’t know if along the route.

If you are doing the PA Turnpike, the Flight 93 Memorial is about 25-30 miles away, from either east or west.

Antietam about 10 miles from I-70.

If you're taking the PA Turnpike, Flight 93 National Memorial is a short "detour." Plan on fuzzy vision in the visitor center.

Gettysburg is closer to Baltimore than to Pittsburgh. Crowds will be much lighter now than in, say, 3 or 4 weeks. I don't know how Da Virus is impacting visitation at park buildings, but like the one at Flight 93, the NPS has done a fantastic job of interpreting the events in the visitor center.

The Wu Flu killed my favorite hole-in-wall eateries along the route, but you're passing by a bunch of small college towns en route and there are probably a bunch I missed.

Just outside Pittsburgh is the Meadowcroft rock shelter, if you're into archaeology. It's a stone age habitation site.

Not quite "between" PGH and Baltimore, but maybe interesting to some.

Antietam Battlefield is a few miles S of Hagerstown. And there's the Fairchild Air Museum at the Hagerstown Airport.

Gettysburg is not very far out of the way

I really like watching minor league baseball in person. It's a little out of the way (more so than Gettysburg), but Harrisburg's (WA national's) minor league team is playing Altoona's (PA Pirates) minor league team on Sunday at 1:00 PM. Tickets are much cheaper than major league (e.g. best available seats are $19), concessions are much cheaper than major league, and the players try harder.

I don’t think Carlisle, PA would be too much of a detour for you?

The US Army Heritage & Education Center there is pretty cool, it’s got an indoor museum and also an outdoor area with lots of exhibits like tanks and helos and a full scale recreation of a WWI fortified trench etc:

Depending on your route, if you go by way of Harrisburg the National Clock and Watch Museum in Columbia, Pennsylvania isn't far off the way. It's kind of an interesting place. Pictures at https://www.flickr.com/photos/...s/72157631978358872/.

Closer to Baltimore is the big Harley-Davidson motorcycle plant in York, Pennsylvania. They do offer tours, but it was a Sunday when I went by there and they were closed.

Farther afield is Great Falls Park at McLean, Virginia about 40 miles SW of Baltimore (near DC). It's not on your route, but it's worth visiting. Pictures https://www.flickr.com/photos/...s/72157648011174255/.

Flight 93 Memorial is better than I'd thought it might be. Gorgeous drive up there. Went last weekend on an MBCA cruise. Took my old Benz and it was a wonderful day.

Also Kentuck Knob (Frank Lloyd Wright home) was open last summer, and Falling Water (wasn't, but might be now). Also possibly check out Laurel Caverns. All great stuff.

Wellsboro PA is a 3 hour detour to the North from the route between Pittsburgh and Baltimore!

Here's an alternative and no amount of detour required...

Don't let the name fool you. If you're not into gambling, it's a good spot to play golf, loop hike around a beautiful lake or simply have a nice lunch and take in the view.

Pilestem Resort State Park is a beautiful area.

Oops. That's a bit further off your intended route than I initially thought.

If you take I68 there is:
Cheat Lake
Coopers Rock
Deep Creek
Berkeley Springs
Harpers Ferry (after I68 becomes I70) & just south of Antietam.
