I received an unexpected and VERY generous Home Depot gift card. Don't really want to spend it on consumables but also can't really think of a tool or tools that I particularly need.

Guess I'll have to go to town and wander around HD for a while, see if anything speaks to me.

Got to be a tool or something that you wouldn't normally buy that a gift card allows you to splurge..

Man, sometimes life throws you a curve ball. That's hard, man. If you plan on wandering too long, you might need that motorized cart. Razz

Any preventative replacements? Hot water heater?

Ceiling fans?

Plumbing upgrades to some Stainless flex hose fittings?

Home Depot carries safes as well don't they?

That's weird, usually my home can sense I've got a bit of a windfall and comes up with creative new ways to malfunction so I've got something upon which to spend the windfall.

A tool seems like a good bet. Try to think of past or future projects in which a tool you don't own could be useful.

Hmmmmmmm. Been thinking about a couple of backup cameras - one for the truck, one for the Cabota. I wonder if Homer carries them?

Yeah, the universe works that way here too usually.

I've got at least one of about every tool I can think of. Wooooooo...wait one...I've been thinking about a cold-cut steel chop saw. I wonder...

Idunno, wood is still kinda spendy.

I'd go for a bandsaw if you don't have one already.

See if HD.com has a 3D printer.

Ha, hope you find something useful. Maybe something will speak to you if you go wander around, or check the website for different things..?

Maybe a CNC router?

Their website may have some slower moving products that you may have a use for.

PASig
Batteries
Light bulbs
HVAC filters

Maybe just buy a bunch of nicer switch and outlet covers? They have nice wood and metal ones that are great looking, much better than $.99 plastic ones.

Surely you can spend that gift card there?

Have you looked at the HD website?

They have more on their website than they sell in the actual stores, including a decent amount of kitchen and grill stuff, home decor, sheets and bedding, towels, suitcases, and all kinds of other stuff. Almost like a Home Depot and Bed/Bath/Beyond combined. You might be surprised what all you can find on their website, and you can obviously use your HD gift card to pay for anything on the HD website, and have it shipped to you (often for free).

I got a big HD gift card as a housewarming present last year, and used most of it buying stuff like baking sheets, dish towels, hot pads, pizza stones, and other kitchen supplies. The only traditional "tool" I bought using it was a shop vac.

If nothing else, HD sells paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, laundry detergent, cleaning supplies, and other similar types of household items that you probably usually get from the grocery store. You could always add to your stash of that kind of stuff, and it'll get used eventually. Then you save money on not having to buy those kinds of things from the grocery store for a while.
