I’m in manufacturing, not rocket science, but I see your point. The counter, however, is that sometimes we reach the end of our knowledge. At that point, we have to try things we can’t fully predict, and see what fails. That’s when we really start making positive progress.
Edison is often credited (maybe correctly, maybe not) with having said something to the effect of, “I now know a hundred ways NOT to make a light bulb,” right?
One jerky fella I used to work with said about new processes, “let’s go ahead and fail quickly, so we can get that out of the way and get on with learning how to do it right.”

SpaceX Starship is supposed to launch tonight at about 7:58 est. tonight, was scrubbed last night. It's streaming live on youtube, it'll be interesting to see if they have another one of those rapid unexpected disassembly's again.

So tonight's launch was scrubbed due to weather.
Too many people on the chat seemed to be watching to see a blow up, as a finger in Musk's eye.
Those who celebrate failure will never succeed in their endeavors.

Case-hardened Starship. That was pretty cool.

Today was a good day. Listening before launch and they didn't plan on recovering the booster or Starship. Tiles in critical locations where removed and the ship was overstressed to collect data.

I’m disappointed that all of the articles I’m finding seem to be focusing on what went wrong in the past rather than what went right this time.

$172 and climbing. As I understand it brokerages firms are penalizing for selling off too soon, some requiring you hang on to it for 2 weeks or more.

Did you get in on the IPO? If so, your shares may be restricted for at least the first two weeks.

Yes this is the case, sort of…
After I successfully registered my interest and got confirmation from Fidelity this am I received another email stating that IF I sold my shares prior to the 15 day moratorium I would be barred from any further IPO opportunities. They went out of their way to say that I could sell if I wanted to but there would be consequences.
Luckily for me I plan on keeping my shares and possibly adding more if the price dips before the NASDAQ add it to their index in 2 weeks. Then I think it will take off even if just for a few days!

chellim1, that video is eye opening or it should be, but then again, people buy Tesla with a PE of 364. That SpaceX is being fast tracked into the NASDAQ 100 is interesting. I like index funds, but I have to wonder how automatic investments into index funds from pensions and retirement accounts affect the prices of the stocks in those indexes.

I read that the IPO’s success has made Musk the world’s first trillionaire.
And he achieved that milestone by making things work.

I was fortunate to get in at the IPO price ($135) but I look at this as a long-term investment.
