Just curious if your new Z71 Yukon/Tahoe has 4WD Low gear? I have a 2015 Texas Edition which is 4WD but only has 4 Hi and 4 Auto. It's fine for my use but I was a little surprised when shopping for that vintage.

Yes, the 2022 Z71 has the 2 speed transfer case without Max Trailering. Mine does not have Max Trailer. No electronic brake control but I have 4 Hi, 4 Lo and 4 Auto. Max Trailer was unable to be purchased alot in 2022 due to the chip shortage is my understanding.

I can’t keep up with all these packages and options they make ones head spin. I thought for sure the 2 speed transfer case was only available with the trailering package. Is the Z71 the only package the 2 speed case is available without the trailering package?

Also for your USB woes, did you try all the USB ports and have the same issue? I have not fooled too much with the in-laws 2022 but I know in my 2015 not all the USB ports will support music playback for the front of the vehicle. Same with the SD card slots.
I forget which now as it has been awhile.

I have no experience with GM infotainment products but when I bought a couple of USB drives for my Dad to use in his Ram and Jeep I did have to format the drives to a different format so that it could be seen by the system. That seemed to be all it needed and it works fine in those vehicles. I forget which format it was off hand and it's several states away so can't check it. Don't know if that would fix your problem but just wondering if you tried it.

I also only used straight Windows Media Player to rip his CD's to flac.

For 2021+ the Z71 isn't an option pkg, its a separate trim, so its LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country. With option packages, there is alot of overlap between the trims. You can option up a LT or Z71 to be close to a Premier or High Country. Also, the 6.2 is available in the Z71, that would have been cool to have, but not needed by us and I assume most Z71s built with 6.2 engines are going to be optioned up into $80,000 plus range. Max Trailer is still a separate package, but from what I have read, the chip shortage is keeping it out of alot of Suburbans, Tahoes, Yukons, etc. right now. Ours does have the 2 speed transfer case giving us 4 Lo without Max Trailer, and I am happy with that. Doubt we will ever use it, but I like getting away from the 3.08 rear our 2017 had, really livens the 5.3 up.

With this generation, both the USB in the dash and the one in the console should play USB music. I haven't tried it again and the infotainment still works. Since I tried it on the loaner 2023 Silverado and they wouldn't work, I doubt they will work on this Suburban. I've read you have to format to FAT16 or something, NOT FAT32, my Windows doesn't even have that as an option.

Looking at trims on GM's website, for 2023:

3.23 rear ratio is across all Suburban trim levels
4WD is standard across all Suburban trim levels (it also says 2WD not available for any, didn't know that)
2 speed transfer case is standard only in Z71, Premier and High Country, it is Available in LS, LT and RST

As far as your extended warranty call Zeigler Auto Group 269-685-3557 and ask about a Chevy factory warranty. They are highly rated on a Ram website and where I purchased mine. Use promocode "payinfull" for an extra $365 off.
