Gun auction cuts ties to Invaluable, AuctionZip sites

ROCK ISLAND -- The Rock Island Auction Company has pulled its entire June 21-24 Regional Auction, as well as its nearly 10,000 guns listed online, from the online auction sites Invaluable and AuctionZip.

RIAC officials said their action came after the May announcement by Invaluable that it no longer will sell "all Class III weapons, assault-style semi-automatic rifles" and other items.

RIAC officials said people can still place sealed or absentee bids online at rockislandauction.com before the auction begins or they can use the new RIAC Live bidding service. The RIAC Live bids service has a 1 percent fee; Invaluable charges 3 percent.
