12-Year-Old US Boy Steals Grandfather's Gun To Rob A Gas Station: Report A 12-year-boy has been arrested for robbing a gas station in Michigan, the United States, with his grandfather's gun, according to a report. A 12-year-boy has been arrested for robbing a gas station in Michigan, the United States, with his grandfather's gun, according to a report in the Independent. The boy even fired a warning shot into the ceiling, the report further said quoting the police. The boy entered a gas station in the city of Hartford about 4 pm on Wednesday last week and waited in line behind another customer before taking out a 9mm gun, the police said. The incident was captured in the store's surveillance CCTV cameras and showed the 12-year-old pointing gun at the store clerk. The boy had kept the gun in a black bag he was carrying, according to the Independent report. When the police were alerted about the incident, Tressa Beltran, one of the cops on duty, reached the gas station within 90 seconds, the report further reported. The youngster has been charged with six crimes, including armed robbery, discharge of a gun, and assault with a dangerous weapon. The boy's name has not been released since he is a juvenile. According to local media reports, the 12-year-old talked to classmates about which gas station in the area would be the least secure before actually robbing one. https://www.ndtv.com/world-new...ation-report-3041912 _________________________________________________________________________________ HARTFORD, Mich. (WOOD) — Surveillance video shows a boy calmly pull a pistol from his backpack, point it at a woman and then fire a shot into the ceiling as he robbed a gas station in southwestern Michigan Wednesday. “It all happened real fast,” the cashier at the gas station told News 8. The cashier, who asked to be identified only as Jessica, told News 8 she had never seen the boy before. She said he walked into the gas station convenience store on Main Street near S. East Street in Hartford just before 4 p.m. Wednesday carrying a backpack. “He walked in and he stood by the door and he just kind of stared at me,” she recalled. Jessica said she asked him if he needed anything and he declined, getting in line behind a customer. When that customer finished checking out, the 12-year-old walked up to the counter. “As he was walking up, he pulled the gun out of his pocket and put the bag on the counter at the same time and told me, ‘Give me all your money,’” Jessica said. “I asked him, ‘Are you serious?’ and he said, ‘Yes,’ and he fired a round. He said, ‘Put all your money in my bag.” Jessica said a customer behind the boy ran out of the store. “I didn’t know what to think,” she said. “I got in the safe. I grabbed a bag of money and I put it in his bag and he ran out.” Surveillance cameras caught the whole thing, which show it lasted only about 16 seconds. The video shows the boy pulled the handgun from his bag, pointed it at Jessica and said, “Put the money in the bag.” Jessica was visibly stunned. “What?” she said. “Put the money in the bag,” the boy repeated. “Are you serious?” she asked. In the video, the boy can be seen pointing the gun at the ceiling and firing a single shot. “Yeah,” he said, sounding mildly annoyed. “OK!” Jessica said. https://www.wlns.com/news/cash...-happened-real-fast/ Police say the boy got the handgun from a locked cabinet in the home where he lived. He pried open the cabinet to get the gun, which belonged to his guardian. “It’s the same age as my youngest. It’s sad,” Jessica said. “Parents aren’t doing their jobs.” —News 8’s Carter Gent contributed to this report. ____________________

The idiot could barely rack the slide. Hope they prosecute both the kid and the Grandfather. I suspect that his parents are absent and is being raised by his Grandfather. Kids this age are shooting each other in CHicago on a regular basis.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ So what. It was not secured and the kid knew where it was. You keep your guns in flimsy cabinets easily accessed by children??? Why the profanity? You having a bad day?

Probably unrelated… However I do take the position that while it’s impossible to childproof a gun, it is quite possible to gun-proof a child With very easy training and education. That’s been my experience. ———————— On another note, what the hell is driving all these 10 and 12 year olds to want to go Rob and kill people? I have my own notions. That’s the thing that needs to be solved here. ^^^^^^^^^^^^ Agree. Mothers of Chicago gang bangers about the age of this kid never know that he is in a gang. The Hispanic kid shot by the cops was about 14 and shooting into parked cars at the three in the morning. He ran from the cops and was shot to death. His mother had no idea where he was. Grandparents in my opinion are ill equipped to raise troubled teen boys. Seen it more than once. Now another media story from the article posted: He allegedly took the gun from his grandfather's safe, where it was loaded with two magazines, according to Independent. The grandfather was unaware that the boy could access his safe where the gun was kept, the police said. Maybe the gun was on the kitchen table. What is the correct story??

This brings to mind a question. If you were armed and in that store would you shoot the kid? After all he did discharge the weapon and point it at the clerk. That makes him a threat by definitions I've settled on. Do you shoot a 12 year old or do you hesitate and hope he doesn't shoot an innocent? You’re a lying dog-faced pony soldier

Ok so people think grandpa should be prosecuted, kid plans which gas station was least secure, carried out robbery or attempt, but grandpa should be prosecuted because the kid pried open a locked container. Grandfather raising a miscreant, locks his gun, but kids a sociopath, grandpa should still be prosecuted. Anti’s can sit back we’ll eat our own, gun owners calling for grandpa to go to jail, it was locked in a container.

So if the Grandpa had the weapon locked in a cheap gun safe and the kid broke in it using a torch or a long pry bar. Then I guess the Grandpa would still be at fault for not buying the Fort Knox safe, which can still be broken into with enough time and the right tools. Not buying it. _________________________ "Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it." Mark Twain

But it was secured. Maybe not as well and you and I would secure it, but it was secured. How do you know it was flimsy? Define "flimsy." As we all know from the safe guys on the forum (well, guy, now): Most of our gun safes aren't really all that robust. E.g.: I own a couple different angle grinders (also unsecured). So kid grabs one of my angle grinders when I'm away, grinds a big hole in the side of the safe, grabs one of my pistols, and... Still grandpa's fault? "America is at that awkward stage.
