The blanket dislike of sushi is weird. Sushi is dozens or hundreds different things. They don't all taste the same. You can't possibly know if you don't like all sushi items.

Also, if you claim it is "raw" that you object to, it isn't all raw.

So a blanket statement that "I don't like sushi" is admission that you have made up your mind in advance.

I hate almost all vegetables.

The only cooked vegetables I'll eat are corn, string beans and carrots. And even at that the string beans and carrots need to be cooked a certain way...al dente.

Most vegetables taste really bitter to me after they are boiled.

I spent 6 years in the Army, with 13 months in Korea.

I ate veggies mixed with desert. Coffee grounds in my coffee, powdered eggs, powdered milk, I had to eat from a cold can of C rations processed and canned during WWII. Eating from a mess kit in the rain was not fun.

Today, I can eat most anything mixed with anything.

Except Liver.

I was raised in a low income family......and it taught me a lot!! Dad worked 7 days/week at the family store, and mom raised us three boys. What she cooked, we ate. You may not have liked it a whole lot, but you really didn't have a big choice.

As an adult, I like to try different foods, and if I don't like something, I just avoid it.....i.e. liver!!

My family all love sushi. I spent decades in the Bay Area, CA, lots of sushi specialties. I haven't tasted a single bite of sushi that I liked (unless they cook it first).

No onions, no peppers of any kind. Don’t like greens either unless it’s salad. Love tomatoes especially grilled. Asparagus, carrots, celery, I’ll throw up right then and there.

A lot of people don’t like fruit and I love fruit. Eat 5-6 servings a day, all different.

Good, fresh fish is sweet and NEVER "fishy".

Gonna have to disagree with you there partner. I've pulled large mouth bass out of ponds, rivers, and streams and eaten it withing an hour of catching it. It all tasted fishy with the added delight of the taste of the bottom of whatever body of water I pulled it from. I've also eaten trout out of creeks and ponds and it never tasted fishy or like silt and rotten vegetation. Some fish is just stronger than other.

Regarding the same fish, you are correct in that fresher is better for sure and individual species will get fishier with age.

Agreed - bass always taste like lake - even when pulled out of a clean cool lake. Largemouth or smallmouth, bass always taste like the lake to me. I don't eat them any more.

Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom - banquet scene

My food "phobias" stem from their origin and their appearance. I have no illusions about where my bacon or hamburger came from. But the thought of, for example, tripe (stomach lining) or tongue (tongue) gives me the creeps. So do "snoots" (the snout of a pig), or even the whole head. At least try to disguise them. Steak tartare (besides my belief that meat should be cooked) and shrimp cocktails (the latter remind me of the "facesitter" in Alien) also elicit a similar reaction. I love eggs, and there is no method of cooking them that I don't like (short of crispy edges), but I can't bear the thought of eating them raw. For the above reasons I have never actually tried any of these.

Naaah, I was just hoping someone would get the Simpsons Mr Burns reference. Well done!
