I've been battling some sinuses this week, but today in the course of a day of lawyerin' I lost my voice. A lawyer who can't talk is probably wonderful for many people but absolutely worthless. I can whisper painfree, but trying to talk with volume from my vocal chords is painful feeling and sounding. I had to call eBay tonight to try to work through some issue where a buyer of mine was scammed, the poor Indian girl on the other end couldn't understand ME. That's like a Yakov Smirnof joke or something. I'm thinking tomorrow I will be reporting for duty but putting my phone on Do Not Disturb. Any SIGforum home remedies? Drink a teaspoon of Hoppes #9 followed by a bore snake chased with 2 sprays of CLP?

No home remedies, but it does remind me of the funniest Rules of Engagement episode:

If you have a sore throat, my fix is pop a whole lemon in the microwave for 10 to 15 seconds. Slice one end open. Then squeeze the contents down your throat.

Then some honey as honey doesn't spoil because it has antibacterial properties. If you can't do the honey straight, then have hot tea and honey about 10 minutes after the lemon.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

I've had this problem a few times over the years when doing voiceover work. My voice would become raspy, or go out because of a cold, sore throat, etc. It would suck to walk into a recording studio for a VO gig and sound like I'm blowing air. Plus I'm not getting paid.
A older korean guy I used to know gave me some good advice years ago. Korean spicy ginger tea with lemon & honey. This tea is very spicy. Works. Every. Time. YMMV. If you can't get a hold of that, try reglar ginger tea with lemon. some brands have some spice to it. The combination of spicy ginger & lemon is what usually works.

Sorry to hear this.
I worked in sales for years and had this happen to me twice. I could not be heard at all except a low whisper.
The only thing I could do was take time off and let my voice rest.
I tried all sorts of things to clear it up but nothing worked except resting my voice.
It is very frustrating to try to communicate with people and be unable to.
