StarTravelerBiden's last-minute commutations of the federal death row inmates were a slap in the face to the victims of the killers, but AG Pam Bondi wants to reverse this by using state laws to retry to them to get the killers on state death rows.
I've been pleased with Bondi's quick actions since being sworn in as attorney general, but this concerns me. While I'd like to see it happen from a personal standpoint, it seems too much like double jeopardy to me.
I'd rather see these guys spend the rest of their lives in the pen without the possibility of parole, but with the federal system reformed to make it a place they don't want to be.
Here's the article from Fox News:
Bondi seeks to reverse Biden death row commutations, accuses former president of 'undermining' justice system Bondi wrote that Biden 'subverted the rule of law'
By Andrea Margolis & David Spunt, Fox News
Bondi, who was confirmed Wednesday, sent out a letter about the commutations to Department of Justice (DOJ) employees Wednesday, accusing Biden of "undermin[ing] our justice system and subvert[ing] the rule of law" by granting the commutations.
"The commutations also robbed the victims' families of the justice promised — and fought hard to achieve — by the Department of Justice," Bondi wrote. "The Department of Justice is directed to immediately commence the following actions to achieve justice for the victims' families of the 37 commuted murderers."
Bondi said the DOJ will move to first "explore opportunities to provide a public forum for the victims' families to express how the commutations affected them personally," calling it an "important step" in building trust and achieving accountability.

wcb6092At Least 40,000 Fed Workers Accept 'DOGE Buyout' As Deadline Looms Tonight
https://www.zerohedge.com/poli...adline-looms-tonightThursday marked the final day for federal employees to accept the Trump administration's offer of eight months of pay and benefits in exchange for voluntarily stepping down. According to the latest figures from Bloomberg, at least 40,000 government workers—about 2% of the federal civilian workforce—have opted into the resignation program.
An official from the Office of Personnel Management told Bloomberg that deferred retirement applications have been steadily increasing and are expected to surge by the end of Thursday, the deadline to apply. Employees can submit their resignations by sending the word "resign" to their government email accounts.
"While a few agencies and even branches of the military are likely to see increases in the size of their workforce, the majority of federal agencies are likely to be downsized through restructurings, realignments, and reductions in force," OPM recently told federal workers in an email.
OPM added: "These actions are likely to include the use of furloughs and the reclassification to at-will status for a substantial number of federal employees."
The agency also told workers that "consolidation and divestitures" could lead to changes in "physical office" locations.
The Trump administration estimated that between 5% and 10% of the federal workforce could accept the offer, which would save taxpayers close to $100 billion. This is what swamp draining looks like—a mandate the American people gave Trump.

2AdefenderFolks who may think or say "the swamp has been drained," and I saw that somewhere back in this thread, are mistaken. Maybe 5 to 10% of the swamp has been drained. There is so much more work to do. This is just the tip of the iceberg - but it's a good start!

I think your estimate is high, but hopeful of continual success.

As much winning as we're getting in just two weeks, the GOP should gain seats in the midterms. They did after Bush's reelection in 2004 and what's happening now is tons better and more consequential. And the Dems (fortunately) haven't learned a thing from this loss. They're still doubling and tripling down on the stupid and crazy. I know the Senate math is bad in two years. But Trump's endorsement should be worth a ton with his record.
I agree. With what's been happening, and at the pace it has been happening at, the Republicans would have to work to screw it up. I know that's what they're good at, but if they can just stay out of his way, we should be in great shape for the midterms.
I have to say, so far, this is everything I was quietly hoping for in a second Trump administration. He came out with guns blazing, and he managed to put together what seems to be a shockingly good team of people. If I had one real critique of his first administration, it was that he surrounded himself with some shitty people who turned out to be backstabbers and losers. Come on, John
Bolton? He learned, and adjusted. It's all fire-breathers and ass kickers. I couldn't be more thrilled.

His first term was a learning process, and reveled to him the extent of the rot and corruption that exists not just in/around the Beltway but, within the party. The 'Never Trumpers', those long-time Beltway functionaries and party luminaries is what made the first-term a rough one...it was subversion from within, they played to the #resist crown at the expense of the party. Now, round-two is a whole new ballgame, he understands the Beltway games, he has a team that also understands it and most importantly they're exposing it to the public. Many of the 'Never Trumpers' have been purged and ostracized, Cheney and some have gotten onto their knees seeking forgiveness, Bret Stephens.

Most likely there was vote counting fraud that defeated the recall effort.
