So now Denmark says they’re going to deploy lots of troops there to Greenland because of the Bad Orange Man?
Actually, I think that’s what he wanted all along, I think they just got played again…

The whole point was to keep China or Russia from getting their greasy paws on a piece of that and establishing a base or something.

400mHow in the hell is that SS agent not sitting in a cell? I’d have perp walked that fool right out of his office and demoted his superiors in front of everyone for not cuffing him themselves. This is the US Secret Service not LeBron’s private security. Please tell me I missed something here and they aren’t handling this as casually as it sounded. “Placed on leave” makes it sound like he’s collecting his pay and playing Call of Duty at home all day. It’s this kind of shit that allows misguided pimple popping idiots to climb ladders with a rifle 200 yards from a presidential stage in broad daylight.

Exactly, and written about here -
“U.K Asks Germany and France, EU NATO, to Support Expanded Presence in Greenland”
https://theconservativetreehou...esence-in-greenland/Not the entire article -
“Annnddd… Just like that, President Trump wins again.
Seriously folks, you would think that after all this time the Europeans would finally understand how President Trump manipulates the media cycle and gets them to do exactly what he wants – while they and the majority of their constituents think it’s exactly the opposite. This stuff is just too funny now.
According to European media outlets, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is in discussions with Germany and France to send a NATO alliance to Greenland to establish a stronger NATO military footprint.
The media present this, hilariously, as if European NATO is going to defend Greenland against President Trump and the USA military. {{INSERT SEVERAL LAUGHING EMOJIS HERE}} I mean, think about it rationally.
The U.K, France and Germany are unwilling to send troops into Ukraine without the protection of the U.S. military. But somehow, for some reason, the U.K, France and Germany are going to send troops to Greenland to defend against the U.S. military.“

Pipe Smoker“Donald Trump boasted of a 'very good call' with Interim Venezuela President Delcy Rodriguez after the Senate blocked a resolution that would have limited his powers in the region.
It came as Trump praised Rodriguez, formerly Nicolas Maduro's vice president, as a 'terrific person' after the US has left her in charge following the capture of Maduro.
'We just had a great conversation today and she’s a terrific person,' he told reporters in the Oval Office.
Trump said on Truth Social that 'we are making tremendous progress, as we help Venezuela stabilize and recover. Many topics were discussed, including Oil, Minerals, Trade and, of course, National Security.'
'This partnership between the United States of America and Venezuela will be a spectacular one FOR ALL. Venezuela will soon be great and prosperous again, perhaps more so than ever before!'
Rodriguez said on social media that she and Trump had a 'long and courteous conversation.' …”

They aren't going to send too much, their entire military is like 20,000 people. But hey, it's a start.

Gen. Holt made a comment about their Navy this morning. It consists of "three boats and a dog named Rex."

downtownvCuba is on the verge of economic collapse, and there’s no immediate relief on tap from longtime patron Russia or Cuba’s biggest trading partner, China.
Its tenuous ties to nearby Mexico are likely to be severed soon, leaving the island nation seemingly out of options for replacing the discounted oil it imported from Venezuela to fuel its economy and provide the communist regime with hard currency.
But there is, perhaps, a solution being dangled by the oil’s new proprietor, the United States.
“There will be no more oil or money going to Cuba—Zero! I strongly suggest they make a deal, before it’s too late,” President Donald Trump wrote on Jan. 11 on Truth Social, mostly in all caps.
The president didn’t elaborate on what such a deal would entail, but Secretary of State Marco Rubio, whose parents left Cuba for Florida in the 1950s, outlined a possible arrangement during a Jan. 9 White House meeting with oil executives.
“The people in control in Cuba have a choice to make,“ Rubio said. ”They can either have a real country with a real economy, where their people can prosper, or they can continue with their failing dictatorship that’s going to lead to systemic and societal collapse.”

Years ago my teenage stepdaughter had a friend who's parents were from Cuba. They traveled there and she would take five pairs of designer blue jeans to give to the girls there. She said you wouldn't believe how overjoyed they were.

Exactly the same as in Bulgaria and other Communist countries I traveled through in 1966. A young Bulgarian gave us some very nice leather gloves and something else just on the HOPE that we might send him a pair of blue jeans (of any kind) when we got back to W Germany. In Prague the height of fashion was ugly blue nylon raincoats that were only available with hard currency or a gift from the West.
That's when and where I learned to viscerally loathe communism in every form. Back then US labor unions (AFL-CIO etc.) were ANTI-communist and socialism seemed never to get a foothold. Now here we are vastly more wealthy than we were then and the Dems are going full Communist. Fuck them all, every one.

Well did you send that guy a pair of blue jeans? You didn't say if you did or not.

Fed161The US military already has had access to Greenland for many years. Owning Greenland is not required to maintain a strong US military presence there.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news...cold-war/ar-AA1U85FEEuropean and Danish media are full of stories of Danes who were killed or grievously wounded fighting alongside the United States in Afghanistan. One interview was with a Danish double amputee who obviously is very bitter about threats to take Greenland by force.
One example of many:
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/crmjewpkje9oJanuary 17, 2026, 09:31 AM
pedropcolaAnother example of taking every bit of hyperbole Trump says and acting like it is the living Word. I get it. Most US presidents say a bunch of shit that they have absolutely no intention of even attempting to carry out. President Trump carries out most of what he says but along the way says things just to push the action along a path of his choosing.
There is a long list of such things. Invading Greenland. Making Canada a state. Warning South and Central American govt's that they might be next (this one might not actually belong on this list lol), etc.
I am sorry that Danish vet lost his legs fighting. That he took his flag and medal off the wall is sad. I also don't give a shit in the big picture about his opinion on the subject. Trump wants something done about Greenland. I am not sure if it's the US taking over Danish responsibilities or just NATO increasing their role and defense of the island. Either one could be what he wants. He seems to be getting the second option which might be the equivalent of saying "we want out of NATO if they won't carry their share of the load" to get NATO countries to actually shoulder their agreed upon commitments.
Honestly NATO could survive with zero US military in Europe and the pledge to arrive if needed. That isn't what we want though in reality. US forces forward deployed around the world works pretty well for many reasons. Cutting back those numbers massively might be the answer. Russia isn't the massive threat it was depicted to be in the Cold War and it certainly as shit isn't now.
As for Greenland, if you believe that article, every major party in the next election wants Danish independence. What do the Danes think about that?

US to Impose 10 Percent Tariff on 8 European Countries Opposing Greenland Deal
‘The United States of America is immediately open to negotiation with Denmark and/or any of these Countries that have put so much at risk,’ Trump wrote.
U.S. President Donald Trump announced a 10 percent tariff on eight European countries that oppose U.S. efforts to acquire Greenland.
The tariff will impact Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Finland starting Feb. 1, according to a Truth Social post on Jan. 17. The countries are all NATO members.
“This Tariff will be due and payable until such time as a Deal is reached for the Complete and Total purchase of Greenland,” Trump wrote.
“The United States has been trying to do this transaction for over 150 years. Many Presidents have tried, and for good reason, but Denmark has always refused. Now, because of The Golden Dome, and Modern Day Weapons Systems, both Offensive and Defensive, the need to ACQUIRE is especially important.”
The tariff will increase to 25 percent on June 1.
Trump previously threatened to impose tariffs on any countries that opposed his plan to acquire Greenland, which he urged America must control to protect the Western Hemisphere.

sigmonkeyI have taken all that Trump has said about Greenland as nothing more than the push to get NATO/Denmark to cover their nut.
Denmark's attitudes towards the Greenlandic people is not the warm and caring behavior one might think.
And certainly, Denmark is not so concerned with "protecting America's back door", and such a cavalier attitude when America (driving by it's own self interests, has spent considerable trillions around the world, and stationed people in much of the lands, that afforded both the lands defenses, as well as putting any "front" out of the "face" of the people in America.
I am willing to bet bananas, that Trump has addressed the lack of NATO/Danish bolstering the defense of Greenland from "unfriendly" threats of incursion. And likely has been a topic discussed within the past ten years.
Not for nothing, "Trump's Talk" got them off their asses.
