You may think it's ridiculous, but it's in the article sjtill linked to on the previous page of this thread. Are you calling President Trump a liar?

You know me better than that.

The president knows exactly what he is dealing with in Putin.

I do not think she is educating him on the goings on over there. Maybe some personal insight conversations.

I don't think she knows Putin better than he does.

You're contradicting the man's claim. Now, you can play all the word games you want, but you're saying that what he has said is not true. Since he can't be mistaken on his claim, that leaves only one alternative, and that's that he's lying.

Trump urges 'justice' for Schiff after Fannie Mae identifies possible mortgage fraud

https://justthenews.com/politi..._campaign=newsletter

President Donald Trump on Tuesday urged "justice" for Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., after Fannie Mae's Financial Crimes Division concluded that he engaged in a sustained pattern of possible mortgage fraud.

"I have always suspected Shifty Adam Schiff was a scam artist. And now I learn that Fannie Mae’s Financial Crimes Division have concluded that Adam Schiff has engaged in a sustained pattern of possible Mortgage Fraud," Trump posted on Truth Social.

"Adam Schiff said that his primary residence was in MARYLAND to get a cheaper mortgage and rip off America, when he must LIVE in CALIFORNIA because he was a Congressman from CALIFORNIA," he added. "I always knew Adam Schiff was a Crook. The FRAUD began with the refinance of his Maryland property on February 6, 2009, and continued through multiple transactions until the Maryland property was correctly designated as a second home on October 13, 2020. Mortgage Fraud is very serious, and CROOKED Adam Schiff (now a Senator) needs to be brought to justice."

Fannie Mae has not issued a public statement as of press time. Trump's announcement follows similar allegations against New York Attorney General Letitia James.

Just the News, last year, reported that Schiff had cited two residences, one in California and one in Maryland, as his "principal residence."

I can solve the "primary residence" issue for all of Congress.

Congress is in session for 30 days every year. That's all. We can house them at the Marine Barracks at 8th and Eye, SW.

No need for a second residence.

he Supreme Court cleared the way for the Education Department to fire half of its workforce on Monday, a move that advances President Donald Trump's plans to dismantle the department.

The high court's decision in McMahon v. State of New York was issued 6-3 along ideological lines.

It arose from a lawsuit brought by 20 Democrat-led states, who asked the court to halt the Education Department's plans to lay off half of its employees and eventually shutter altogether.

I have not encountered any Russians that are not 100% in favor of the war. Every one of them says Ukraine is Russian land and that because Kruschev was from Ukraine he gave more Soviet land to the Ukraine region, and it should never have become a separate country with the current borders.

This is not unlike how mainland Chinese view Taiwan.

I don't think there is going be a grassroots movement in Russia to end the war and/or depose Putin.

I don't know how many, what manner, and what circumstances you met these Russians, so I will not dispute your experiences. However, my wife was born and raised in the Soviet Union, lived through its downfall, and then legally immigrated to the US. She has continued to keep up with many friends and relatives over these many years. I can say you will be hard pressed to find some one more opposed to the Russian invasion of Ukraine than her. Note, she is not particularly fond of Ukraine, and hated Zelensky even before the invasion, but she still sees Putin as the thug aggressor. When the war first began, the majority of the people inside Russia she communicated with were not supporting the "special military operation," many even openly supporting Ukraine. She did lose a few friends over her support of Ukraine, but the majority were ambivalent, or supporting an end to the war with Ukraine. As things didn't go as Putin imagined, in true Soviet style, he clamped down on dissent, murdering journalists and opponents, people's jobs were threatened, sons snatched for conscription, etc. Don't confuse a Russian supporting Putin with one terrified of him. Putin has never hidden his admiration of Stalin, and his subjects fully understand what that means.

Toooooooo fucking bad.

Maybe if the USSR had not been an utterly corrupt system that might have happened, but their corruption spelt inevitable doom, and an independent Ukraine.

Live with it.

A friend travels to St. Petersburg, Russia, several times a year. He stays for a month or more. He tells me that the Russian people are in favor of the war and believe that Putin is being a pussy by not fighting hard enough. Their general opinion is that Putin should go and finish the war, and stop messing around.

Russians who emigrated from the USSR or post Soviet Russia to the US are "Americans" now, and yes, they are not supporting Putin.

From my international work travels in Easwt Asia, what I hear from Russians I have been in contact with is consistent with what I stated. Now, if they live outside Russia, but are still Russian citizens, that might affect their point of view. Others are travelers like me. I have heard the claim of "NATO aggression" ad nauseam, while the logic of wanting to join NATO to prevent a Russian invasion is being proven!

When I lived in Russia--30 years ago--there was, for a short while, a truly independent press in addition to the "organs of the state".

A little after I left the Putin government cracked down on NTV, the only independent TV channel. Now there is NO independent press or media in Russia, so Russians hear propaganda-much more clever than the old Soviet stuff--day and night. IIRC internal polls--and these are always very, very questionable--put support for Putin's war at about 80%.
But younger people who have internet access are--so I've heard--much more likely to be in opposition. In addition, young men are eligible for the draft. In the old days it was bad enough. Now it's just a meat grinder in Ukraine; so millions of young people are leaving.

Bottom line, I guess, is that Putin has convinced perhaps 80% of the Russian people to support the war; but that's in the context of relentless pro-Putin propaganda.

“The White House is opening its own probe of President Joe Biden's use of an 'autopen' for commutations and other matters over a period of years – in the latest escalation of what President Trump calls a 'tremendous scandal.'

The investigation is to be conducted by the White House counsel's office.

A senior administration official told Fox News that the probe is anticipating a review of up to one million documents.

It comes as Trump's Republican allies in the House are gearing up their own probe of the president's use of an 'autopen' on a series of pardons and commutations, including some high profile ones at the end of his presidency.

House Oversight Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) has subpoenaed former Biden administration aides in its probe, and the Justice Department has its own investigation.

Trump has regularly pointed to the issue since the first reports of Biden's use of the device, claiming his predecessor was incompetent and many of his actions were invalid.

The move comes after Biden spoke to the New York Times and said he 'decided' on the commutations that bore his signature. …”
