There is a lot going on, the threat of sleeper cells in the US has to weigh in on the decision to intervene into the Israel-Iran war.
While we can't be held hostage that way, it's a distinct possibility that engaging Iran could create havoc here should the sleeper cell theory be correct.
I don't see Iran ever negotiating in good faith, they might come to the table, but you can't trust anything they agree to

chellim1 I agree completely. Its purely for clicks and looks unhinged. They both have good points and that's what this is such a dilemma. In the end, I'd rather support a long standing ally vs. a nation chants death to Israel and death to America.

Notice how he was more than willing to lower rates to try and save Grandpa Joe and Kamala's asses but won't lift a finger to help Trump?

President Trump just announced that he will give the Iranians another two weeks for negotiations to succeed before deciding on whether to launch an attack. This does sound familiar.

Yeah, I'm pleased to hear this. A LOT can happen in two weeks and won't (directly) involve us.

The way I hear it, it means that Trump will decide "within" a two week time frame whether to go. It could be tomorrow because tomorrow is within two weeks.

About 7 posts above. Take your blood pressure meds before watching. Indeed. We owe Musk, big time, that USAID is now largely dismantled. Most of that stuff is criminal. I hope prosecutions follow. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Pipe Smoker,

It was 52 years ago when they first came out and they were a real status symbol. I remember an engineer at GE Mobile Radio wore his on a belt holster. I sure miss mine which died five or six years ago.

I still have 3 of the 6 that I have had over the years, the oldest being circa 1984, or so. All 3 still in fine working conditioned and used on a regular basis. The other 3 were stolen. Long live RPN!

^^^^^ I still have my HP-35 and its wonderfully soft leather belt holster.
But nowadays I use the excellent PCalc app on my iPhone. In RPN mode of course.

Looks like Ed had the HP-45 at GE:
The HP-45 is the second scientific pocket calculator introduced by Hewlett-Packard, adding to the features of the HP-35. It was introduced in 1973[1] with an MSRP of US$395[2] (equivalent to $2,798 in 2024).[3] Especially noteworthy was its pioneering addition of a shift key that gave other keys alternate functions.
I had the HP-41C:
The HP-41C series are programmable, expandable, continuous memory handheld RPN calculators made by Hewlett-Packard from 1979 to 1990. The original model, HP-41C, was the first of its kind to offer alphanumeric display capabilities. Later came the HP-41CV and HP-41CX, offering more memory and functionality.
Ed was a friend that worked in Application Engineering. One day, I asked why the eight frequency mobile could only scan two frequencies at a time. We got the circuit diagram and looked up the parts. I realized the switching diodes did not have the isolation and switching speed. I checked my parts supply from working at other companies and found some diodes that would work. Ed made a new PC board for the modification and we now had a mobile radio that could scan eight frequencies while the product planners were out to lunch. So we put the eight frequency option in the book for $200.

I have a friend who had some ridiculously low employee number at HP. Very nice guy; unfortunately in the last year or so has developed dementia.
