parabellumBlow it out your ass, Rand. The things you're amazed at now, a blind man could have seen coming.
You're just another politician. Daddy should have worn a condom.

grumpy1So much awesomeness going on I could almost burst.
I say use the DOGE savings found to pay down the debt but if they want to issue a return to taxpayers make sure it goes to those that deserve it/who have actually PAYED (1040 total taxes owed after credits) substantial federal income taxes over the years or adjust accordingly, but not those like my BIL who get a tax refund that's thousands more than the federal income taxes he pays (if any). I have read numerous times that almost half of individuals/families pay zero or almost zero federal income taxes.

smschulzNo need to knock Rand from me, better late than never and for the tariffs, we'll see but I like the move.

Rand Paul
@RandPaul
A few people may have noticed that I resisted an enthusiastic endorsement of Donald Trump during the election.
But now, I’m amazed by the Trump cabinet (many of whom I would have picked).
I love his message to the Ukrainian warmongers, and along with his DOGE initiative shows I was wrong to withhold my endorsement.
So today, admittedly a little tardy, I give Donald Trump my enthusiastic endorsement!
I voted for Donald Trump in 2016, in 2020, and in 2024. I became more enthusiastic each time.
I think Donald Trump has learned a lot since 2016. I also love his message to the Ukrainian warmongers, and his DOGE initiative. Like Rand, I also think the federal government is still far too big and spends far too much of our money.
At least you always know where Rand Paul stands. He doesn't stab people in the back like John McCain, Mitt Romney, Mitch McConnell or so many others.
"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Mars_AttacksStacy Abrams tank needs to be fully investigated while she sits behind bars.
There's over a 100% chance she donated OUR money to Fani Willis' campaign. Fani needs to be behind bars, too as she has been awfully quiet lately.

2 billion taxpayer dollars was given through the EPA to a left-wing "nonprofit consortium"? Time to dissolve the EPA!

“We are not in the business of giving out money, and honestly, I don't know what $5,000 will do for you.”
"We want to give you a refund, but Congress won't let us... because they already know there's no money for that"
Well, everything you say about Ghetto Barbie, who is "suddenly a fiscal hawk" is true.
BUT still, she's not wrong. We don't have the money to hand out checks again like during Covid.
Once it is clear to the bond markets that the Fed can no longer monetize massive gobs of US Treasury paper without re-accelerating inflation, bond yields will lurch skyward, far above the 3.4% average yield embedded in the chart below.
In turn, even another 250 basis points of average treasury yield (i.e. to 5.9%) would nearly double debt service to $3.3 trillion per year or to 41 cents on the dollar of revenue by 2035. And thereafter financial catastrophe would be virtually guaranteed.
What this means, of course, is that any political party with even a modicum of fiscal responsibility would write a budget resolution that unequivocally and sharply reduces these baseline deficits for each and every year during the 10-year budget window ahead, and do so through sweeping spending cuts and minimally disruptive revenue gains.

Is that a lecture?
All I'm saying is that we don't have the money to pass out. If we had a surplus, I'd be all for it. When projections show interest alone on the debt ballooning over coming years, well no. Interest on the debt already exceeds defense spending.
1. "there's no money for that".
2. “We are not in the business of giving out money"
I agree with those two statements. It has nothing to do with her voting record or anything else. Just those two statements.

Except that she's one of the major proponents of reparations, she's not saying that because she's suddenly fiscally concerned about debt, overspending and fraudulent payouts being a problem.
She's saying that to attack the idea that would give money to everyone and potentially taking away money from her reparations plans, and because it's a Trump/Musk/DOGE initiative.
