A perfectly rendered USMC salute to your uncle. May he finally rest in peace.

Sadly true. Being an Iraq/Afghanistan vet ( along with a few guys from desert storm and other 1990’s scuffles- Panama Somalia etc) I am one of my VFW posts “young guys” a lot of my older brothers are suffering the prolonged/delayed effects of agent orange and other maladies brought home from SE Asia. When a member dies we drape the charter with black fabric, and it seems we have few months it is not in place.
I long for a day the VFW can not sustain itself because we stop getting involved in such conflicts.
My hearty salute to those that served and continue to do so.

Rest in peace, sir.
