Last year I finally convinced the wife to only buy Dukes. I hope it doesn't change.

Interesting. I hope they don’t change it. We are an exclusively duke’s household. My wife loved it so much growing up having her southern granny use it exclusively, At an unreasonable expense she would mail order a few jars a year when we lived in California. It may be sold there now I don’t know.

I just saw today that my local market is carrying Blue Plate Mayo, from Louisiana.

What's the word on this stuff...how does it stack up against Duck's and Best Foods?

I heard Japanese Kewpie Mayo is supposed to be awesome. So I decided to check it's ingredients. In Japan it's made with:

Vegetable Oil(Canola Oil,Soybean oil)
Egg Yolk
Vinegar
Salt
Monosodium Glutamate
Spice
Natural Flavor

But the version made in the US for them has some different ingredients:

Soybean oil
Egg Yolk
Distilled Vinegar
Salt
Rice Vinegar
White Balsamic Vinegar
Monosodium Glutamate
Sugar
Cider Vinegar
Mustard Flour
calcium disodium EDTA(to protect flavor)
Natural Flavors

The American version adds Sugar, so I guess some Mayonnaise does have sugar in it. They also don't use the egg whites in the Mayo, just the yolks.

I may need to get a few jars. It's #1 for me but will use Heilmann's if on sale in the small containers.

The Kewpie I get is made in Japan. I don't think I've ever seen a USA made version. Not sure I would buy it - why so much vinegar?

I'm gonna buy some Duke's and have a taste test. Egg salad? Ham sandwich? What's a good test?
