sig2392Has anyone used a holosun gold dot instead or red or green?
I am shopping for a new sight and came across the gold dot.
Does anyone have one and what do you think compared to red or green?

Tuckerrnr1We have all three on our range as rentals. For me the green was easiest to acquire the dot. Holosun said the gold dot was created to help those with colorblindness.

P220 SmudgeUsed, no, but I have demoed and sold a number of them. They're a lot easier for people with astigmatism to see clearly. They're the only optic Holosun makes where I see a clearly defined, perfectly round dot. All the others are starburst or bananas or a banana with a starburst at one end. Downsides are they're not as quick for me to pick up in bright outdoor daytime environments and even at full brightness can get lost against some backgrounds even when red or green do not.
As with all things, ymmv, different people's eyes and all that.

joel9507It's useful to be able to see the dot in all lighting situations, and quickly picking up a yellow dot in bright light would seem problematic.
It'd probably be better than the other colors in very dark situations, I'd guess, but personally I'd avoid yellow unless I had some specific issue with the other colors, which I don't.
I have a couple sights that support both green and red. Maybe someday there'll be options for green/red/gold and I could easily see trying something like that.
