Which can both be fun and occasionally quite embarrassing.

Basically the same thing, just different programs.
They're all variations on videoconferencing, which has been a thing since like the 1980s, but never really took off on a large scale until the 21st century. Then there was a recent massive surge due to the pandemic lockdowns causing videoconferencing to replace most face-to-face conversations for a period of time. (Heck, we even had videoconference court hearings during the pandemic.)

ensigmaticNever Skyped. Never Zoomed. Facetime and Signal, with friends and family.

architectZoomed exactly once, a Covid Happy Hour with friends. I have, however, shoulder surfed several video conference calls with my wife's employee group, they use it a lot being that they are distributed around the globe. Does not seem to enhance productivity.
Never Skyped, Tweeted, TikTok'd, or Facebooked, and intend to keep it that way. Nobody wants to see my ugly mug, anyway.

jhe888No Skype, but we Facetime with grandchildren, which is great. They are too little to actually talk on the phone, but will engage via Facetime.
I Zoom at work all the time.

Your greatgrandpa: “Never! Horses are just fine.”
LMAO!

Hope none of y’all getting your electrons from nookuular radiation… or drinking dihydrogen monoxide for thirst … make sure to grab yourself a halo on the way out.

PHPaulHOOONNNNKKKK!
I don't even like talking on the phone. MUCH prefer texting for a couple of reasons:
1. I'm not tied to the phone. I can reply now, or later when I've had time to think about it and/or it's more convenient.
2. I have time to consider my replies. Extended silences on the phone are uncomfortable. Blurting out the first thing that comes to mind is occasionally embarrassing or unwise and sometimes both.
3. While I expect this topic is concerned primarily with casual conversations, there are circumstances when a record of "who said what" is handy.
Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

1967GoatWe use Skype for Business at work, I work in IT. I don't use the video portion, but we can "Share" our desktops. Gives the other end the ability to view all of my programs/desktop. Much better than seeing someone's ugly mug. They can't see me as I have a piece of black electrical tape over my camera.
