Today’s daily irony arrived yesterday.

Wish me luck, guys.

I’m off to shovel 7” of heavy, wet snow off the car, driveway, and sidewalk.

So I can see my cardiologist.

I hope you get good results, both with the snow and cardiologist.

My irony was yesterday. I used the stairs to get to the 6th floor for my electrophysiologist appointment.

We just lost our Electrical Supervisor in work.

50 years old, worked for our company 25 years.

Found dead in his garage next to snow blower and shovel.

Be careful guys…

7" of snow predicted tonight for my area of SE Mi.

Be careful shoveling that snow. Heart attacks are not fun.

One reason why I've several times throughout the years gotten cardio stress tests, got a calcium score a couple years ago, eat healthy, keep my weight under control, lift weights, walk 10k steps/day, and do high-intensity interval training twice a week.

Oh, the irony flows full force today.

As I finished shoveling a small mountain of snow to get the car out to go to my cardiologist, they called to change my appointment to a "tele-medicine" appointment. No need to drive there.

Well, the gym was closed this morning, so at least I got a good workout in.

Plus after that call, I went out for a breakfast of bacon, eggs, toast, and coffee.

And wear good grippy boots! I am 2 weeks into concussion recovery after doing a Charlie Brown onto the back of my head. There was glare ice under the loose stuff.

Still getting big headaches and have poor concentration. Doc says probably another 2 weeks of restricted activities.

The wife has been mercilessly saying (joking I hope) that she wants me to wear my ski helmet when clearing the driveway!

I did that going out to my car one morning.

Went over so fast my legs literally flew up into the air. Rang my bell but good. Luckily, I was in good shape so I was able to crunch hard and take most of it on my shoulders, and I was wearing a large felt cowboy hat, so the brim cushioned things a bit.

Still saw stars.

Luckily: No after-effects for me except for very sore abs (yeah: I crunched that hard) and shoulders.

There's ice out there now. Nothing I can do about it. New driveway late last summer. Concrete guy said "No salt or other ice-melt for one year."

Gonna make clearing the snow that's coming challenging.

Arthritis in my knee creates some "fun" ironies

I need to exercise to keep healthy, but the exercise can flare up my knee preventing me from exercising

Back in the winter of '98 I did that in the dark under an airplane. Doing the pre-flight walk around in the dark at Sun Valley I landed flat on my back, knocking the wind out of me for a couple minutes. Never hit my head, but I was a lot younger then! Luckily it was very dark, so no passengers could see my escapades.

This time I thought the fall was controlled, and was quite surprised when my head hit hard and bounced.

The local ER was impressive. They deal with a lot of ski injuries including concussion. The care was excellent.

Yeah, that's an actual thing, not limited to cartoons or Home Alone movies.
My feet went out, then up, I got some air, but managed to tuck my head forward as I landed square on my back. It was middle of the night on an icy road. I laid there quietly for a moment looking at the stars before getting back in the truck.

Ooh. I feel that.

Exercising is both good for my knee, and bad for my knee.

My daily irony currently is that I'm bald, so my head gets cold easily and I have to wear beanie caps in winter. But I'm also hot-natured, so wearing beanie caps makes me hot after a short period of time.

This means that throughout the winter I'm constantly either putting on or taking off hats, to regulate my temperature. Put one one until I get hot, then take it off until I get cold. Rinse and repeat.

At work when a customer purchases a handgun, Michigan law requires a Concealed Pistol License or a License To Purchase. A LTP requires a trip to local law enforcement where they do a background check and enter a NICS number on the LTP which is good for thirty days. And a CPL requires a background check for issuance of renewal.

As the BATFE no longer allows a Michigan CPL holder to bypass a NICS check since early 2020 everybody gets run when a 4473 is filled out.

The irony is when the purchaser goes into Researching or Delay status. Have Had non CPL holders get denied despite going through the prior LEO background check though.
