Suggest a new hose reel.
I've had a self winding hose reel for the last decade. Tried Google, now luck. Most reviews for my discontinued as well as a half to a dozen other similar options were horrible. So I guess I was lucky mine worked.

Anyways what do you guys suggest for hose reel for 100' reel?

I have an Eley wall mount I've been very happy with. It does not self wind though.

Bought an Eley reel earlier this summer. I've had plastic ones that all eventually get brittle and break, or just tangle up. This one is quite heavy duty and I don't expect to replace it for many years (though cheap it's not). However, there is almost no plastic in it to break and the fittings are all heavy brass.

That's what I have and it works awesome. One of my most favorite things I did when I built our new house.

The reel is important but even more important is the hose itself. Without the proper house they fold, get twisted, kinked, etc...

This is the hose I have and it winds easy and never gets twisted. It's expensive but a one and done purchase.

We have the Eley wall mount, plus the post mount kit. With that kit, you can stick a post (4"x4" or 6"x6") anywhere and mount the reel on the post. Even though it is manual, it is an almost effortless and very smooth action. We are using a 100 ft Goodyear rubber hose. Eley also sells extenders for the reel so you can use even longer hoses.

I got mine about five years ago.

It was kind of sluggish at first, then I changed to a no-kink hose with a smoother surface.
Turns out the drag from the hose was what made it no longer work. Yours may be doing this also.

Mine is definitely toast, it started getting slow, then started leaking, then stopped retracting all together.

I’ve got an Eely also. One of the best purchased I’ve made.

These go to eleven.

Me, too! I've been looking for a hose reel I could mount on a 4x4 post for years.

Those do look nice but because of location of back door and A/C unit I'd want something that mounts with the hose reel parallel to the house instead of perpendicular.

Another vote for Eley! I bought the 4 wheel version with the reel extension so I could put all my hose on it. They are guaranteed not to leak for 10 years. All copper piping. Well made and worth the price that you pay. Well satisfied!

After working in industrial maintenance shops for over 40 years the best advice I can give is to get as far and as fast as you can from any "automatic rewind" hose reel you can buy. It can and will break, probably sooner than later.

Yeah as mentioned above the Eely can be mounted horizontal or perpendicular. I also have the kit added to take a longer hose.

These go to eleven.
