Police motorcycle pursuit - Finnish version
Exhibit A for why pursuits are very often terminated almost as soon as they're called in these days.

In the words of the great Bishop Bullwinkle...

Hell to the naw, naw, naw!

Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here.

Although sometimes distracting, there is often a certain entertainment value to this easy standard.

I can't imagine a pursuit like that in Florida. Certainly some grandma or tourist would have turned in front of the officer in the first 5 minutes

No kidding! When he finally dumped it and disappeared from view for awhile, I was shocked at how far he had gotten and how fast he was moving when he finally appeared back on camera heading toward the barn where he was ultimately apprehended.

Those were the nicest roads I've seen awhile.

Don't see any trash along the roadway either.

John

The key to enforcement is to punish the violator, not an inanimate object. The punishment of inanimate objects for the commission of a crime or carelessness is an affront to stupidity.

Because they taught to. Unlike the US when if you can make it around a few cones you get an endorsement

That was some serious scootin! On the part of both parties.
That said, if this was all for a traffic violation, then a needless risk to everyone in it and around it.
And he out rode what appeared to be his only backup!
I googled what the Finnish cops ride:
BMW R1200. Yamaha FJR1300. Honda VFR1200.
Based on engine noise, I am guessing the cop was on the Yamaha or Honda.

A bit of web searching did turn up this comment, almost three years old:

https://www.hs.fi/kaupunki/art...0aae0ee20642d274f824

The reason for this chase was only speeding, he first drove 144km/h in 80km/h zone and by normal speed trap that was set up by police.

This guy turned out to be a convicted felon, manslaughter in 2002 and shooting another guy to leg with a shotgun in 2014.
I´m guessing the guy was on parole at that moment.

Punishment for crimes in Finland is absurd, this guy got only 2 years in prison from this and earlier crimes including assaulting ex-spouse and minor children. Also possessing illegal firearms.

With good behaviour the guy will get parole maybe after 1-1,5 years.

That's true for all the Scandinavian countries. Prison sentences are shockingly short, and prisons are more like dorms or hostels, with nice rooms and few locked doors. Plus, most prisoners are allowed up to 18 days of unsupervised "home leave" per year, or 30 days if they have children.

For example: Anders Breivik is considered Norway's highest risk prisoner. He killed 77 people in Norway, 8 with a car bomb in the capitol and 69 kids with a rifle in a heinous hours-long mass shooting at a youth summer camp. He was sentenced to 21 years in prison with possible parole after 10. So he could be released at age 43 in 2022, or age 54 in 2033.

I guess they've never heard of a radio...or they have a serious lack of cops if he had no readily available assistance

no wonder motorcycle drivers have a bad rap....neither of them was terribly smart

You want to see some mad motorcycle pursuits go to Live Leak. Some in South Africa or some in, I don’t which, South American country is crazy!!!

There is a video of a Dutch Motor Officer going after a Burglary suspect. Suspect on foot cop on his scoot. It’s a good one. I can’t link videos from Live Leak to here otherwise I would for your enjoyment.
