$35,000 for an 8 year old gas truck with 155,000 miles? What did it go for new, $45,000? My 2015 F350 Lariat CC SRW LB diesel was $54,000 new including tax, title, license. Yes, I know vehicle prices are crazy right now, but it has to get better, no? I'd wait until then.
On the other hand, if you can afford an Airstream, get a new truck.

I don't know exactly what that would have sold for when new but sizable discounts were available up until a couple of years ago. Someone else got the best miles out of it, many with guarantee coverage and has probably driven about 2/3 of its usable life and prices it for sale at 2/3 of new price. If I didn't have to have one right now I would wait for the market to settle down. The market is going to be flooded with 2021 and 2022 models although nobody knows how soon. Three years ago we bought a 2013 GMC fully equipped but with the smaller V-8 with 42,000 miles from a dealer for $27,500.

I did not ask "to talk me into it or out it". Nice try though.
From your OP in that thread: “I do not know about what kind of issue I could encounter. What about injectors? I know the tranny could be an issue. Possibly front end work?
I am not sure about this rig. Price is right. But with 240k on it. Am I in for big issue's for immediate repairs looming?
Initially I was told it had 200k for miles whick excited me. Hearing it actually has 240k has lessened my excitement about it.
What are your guys thoughts on it.
I would probably put about 10k miles a year on it.
What would be a really good price on something like this.“
Sounds like a verbose way of asking to be talked into or out of it.
Stay classy.

I'm not sure how this thread seems to be a little off-road.
The price is righteous. No, it is NOT $35K.
The mileage is 152,300.
The extras on this truck as noted before are quite nice: 1. Retrax bed cover (retails for $1300) 2. B&W gooseneck and wiring (hitch is $550) 3. Line-X over top spray-in liner ($800) 4. B&W multi-height drawbar ($400)
There is possibly a transferable warranty until March 2022.
Service records from the few times at a local dealer will be provided.
The deal has been made, and now all we have to do is get the paperwork done.
I will commute with a 2004 Toyota Camry XLE four-cylinder so fuel economy is not of great concern. This will be our adventure vehicle.
Thank you for your insights and tips.

I've got a 20 year old silverado with 220k and an 18 year old suburban with 406k that both beg to differ.
Well I had a 99 Tahoe that burned through 3 fuel pumps, a transmission and a rear end by 115K miles. Oh and the most it ever towed was 2K pounds maybe 6 times.

Obviously overpriced or you wouldn't duck the question. Strange to ask people to talk you into or out of a vehicle and not mention the price and duck when asked.

A 3/4 ton with the 6.0 can tow a decent load. The gooseneck in the bed would/could indicated it towed a lot of heavy loads. Which would worry me some with that rig. Good luck. I like a 3/4 and one ton truck.

2 different critters. You're talking a half ton old body style truck with the old small block, as compared to a 3/4 ton with an LS motor that the OP is looking at. I had a '94 1/2 ton before my '01, and it never had any drivetrain issues, either, until rust and finally a suicidal deer finished it off at over 200k. Every vehicle can have issues, but it sounds like you got a lemon. That body style Suburban/Tahoe were good trucks...definitely more reliable than the Fords/Dodges of the same era.

Oh I completely agree they are 2 different critters. I have a friend who's dad had a 3/4 Ton Chevy 6.0 with over 300K on it, and he pulled a 7K pound trailer every day with it for work.
The point I was making was that someone commented on GM quality, you said you have 2 vehicles that would disagree and stated I previously had one and would agree that GM quality is shit. While I had my Tahoe my wife had an 02 Ford Explorer that she put 150K miles on, in the same time period and the thing only needed a wheel bearing (fixed in a shop) and an alternator that I literally changed on the side of the road in 20 minutes.
After my Tahoe debacle and other issues with GM quality I no longer purchase GM vehicles with my money. Now I will say my Company Car is a 2020 Traverse and other than constant issues with the radio/infotainment system it has been a pretty nice vehicle. Occasionally the transmission won't want to shift into reverse but that's a once a month type thing. I'll turn 70K miles on it before the end of the year and my company has a 2022 on order for me.This message has been edited. Last edited by: sigarms229, December 14, 2021 02:51 PM

My fault, likely. Got tired of listening to demands of "How much?" and opined on the subject based on supply and demand in my area [prices and 'values' are nuts!].
Back to your original question, I've not heard or experienced anything to think that year/model is an issue. Sounds like you know your trucks and got what you wanted. Many project on what you should do based on what they would do but that ain't the way life works.

Regarding price, allow me to share that growing up I was taught that financial questions were to be avoided. The price is fair, and I’m willing to pay it. It is nowhere near the supposed $35K.
The gooseneck hitch does mean that a heavy service load was towed. Why else would the hitch be installed? But, it is the highest trim level and the interior is crazy good for its age and GM. This suggests previous owners were not in the construction world. In addition the current owner has towed 8K pounds on the bumper with no issues, and has two years of experience with the truck. I don’t think the truck is about to fall apart mechanically. I may need the gooseneck at some point, to tow a full-size antique car.
Again, I appreciate the insights from the forum. Let’s let this thread fade away.
