My department has inherited one of these machines, and I've got to figure it out fairly quickly. The manual is a tiny bit of help, but I'd sure like to talk to someone who's got one in use and got some experience with it. Who's got the knowledge?

I don't have any experience with Axiom but have experience with Onefinity and Vcarve. There's a facebook group for Axiom that may be of help.

Vcarve is a program I’ve seen mentioned. Thank you for the reminder on that.

I’ve got an ar16 elite and use v-carve. Not an expert but I might be able to help some. What model you have. Do you know which controller it has?

We have a Axiom Pro V5 AR6. I'm far from being an expert but have used it for quite a few projects.
We are running VCarve 11.5. There are newer versions out there but haven't felt the need to upgrade.

If I remember correctly, the Axiom website has some helpful how-to videos. The biggest learning curve is VCarve. Watching Youtube videos helped me a lot.

I don't know which controller is on this machine, but I'll find out tomorrow. The previous owners built an "ice cube" around it, but aside from that it looks VERY similar to the machine Jupiter shows.

I did at least get the machine to home its axes on Friday, and was able to jog it around just a little bit. Jogging was mighty slow, and that probably was a good thing for this novice.

There's some tooling already attached to the table (again, from the previous owner), and I need to either figure out how to work with it, or to just go ahead and remove it and start from "clean sheet."

The manual I have says this is an AR-6 Basic. (Handwritten by the previous owners.)

I'll look shortly for more markings on the unit.

Update: I'm finally getting to put some time into learning this machine, spending a lot of time with the Vectric videos on YouTube.

I've got the trial version of VCarve Pro right now; I'll probably get the paid version this week. This week's task is to learn software, planning to get some time with the machine next week.

It was a bit of a fight, but I finally got a toolpath created for the most simple of the five parts. It's a relatively straightforward thing, with just an outline and no holes.

The parts I'll have to tackle next are more complex, with holes and slots. I'll have to learn how to deal with tool changes for those.
