My dbx DX5 CD player that’s part of my several decade old audio system is starting to give up the ghost. Still have hundreds of music CDs that I don’t feel like transferring to memory sticks or my NAS that I’d like to continue to play. Any recommendations for a replacement unit that can handle audio CDs as well as memory sticks with downloaded audio content and is decent quality? Thanks.

Hit the Goodwill, they are loaded with old audio equipment. May not help you with the digital music though

I like my Onkyo six disc carousel player. This price is now ridiculous! https://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-D...fashion%2C569&sr=8-6

Generally speaking any audio electronic bearing the name Yamaha, Marantz, or Denon should be good to go. Just shop via price point. If you don’t mind rack-mounted form factor you could also include Tascam. Perhaps the Yamaha CD-S303. Yamaha would be my first choice.

I bought this about a year ago and am really enjoying it! Big sound upgrade over my 20+ year old Sony. YAMAHA CD-S300BL Natural Sound CD Player

Honesty with the prices of CD players what they are may just want to get an XBOX or PlayStation to do the job. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. Those might not decode pre-emphasis, or HDCD on CDs that are so encoded. Maybe they do, maybe they don't, I don't know. I would stick with an actual CD player for playing CDs. I second the recommendation of Yamaha, Marantz, or Denon, with Yamaha being my first choice as well. _______________________________ Do the interns get Glocks?

If you have a modern DVD player on the same system setup, have you verified it won't also play CDs for you? You only have integrity once. - imprezaguy02

Thanks for the recommendations; I’ll check them out. Sure are a lot more expensive than mine was 20+ years ago!

Loads of old school cd players are eBay and Craigslist too. Paying $800 + for an Onkyo carousel is just plain stupidity. Look around, it shouldn't be that hard.

You really should, in my opinion, start converting those. You might even find that you listen to them more if digital and more portable on your devices, phone etc. Endeavor to persevere.
