We bought a Pendelton wool blanket 6 years ago. It's warm as all get out. We have a sheet, thermal blanket and the wool one on top. __________________________ Writing the next chapter that I've been looking forward to.

Pendleton sounds very nice. But last time I checked, prices almost gave me a heart attack. "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it." L.Tolstoy "A government is just a body of people, usually, notably, ungoverned." Shepherd Book

LL Bean seems to have what you want. I’ve never been disappointed with the quality of their products. https://www.llbean.com/llb/sho...ative-comforter-warm Made in USA. ----------The weather is here I wish you were beautiful----------

Thanks. I'll check out LLBean as well. Looked at the linked product and it shows "Made in the USA of US and imported materials." Tufts and Needles used this as code for "assembled in USA using ingredients from chicom" and so I'm a little leary of that. If assembled in USA of EU or other non-chicom ingredients, that's fine. I think I've got a half dozen or so good suggestions above. I'll check them out over the next couple of days. Thanks!! "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it." +1 on layering. I use a cotton sheet, quilt, and an all wool blanket as the top layer. The one I recently bought is a Klippan brand (50% recycled wool 50% lambswool) from Sweden. Much thicker and warmer than other wool blankets I’ve owned, but not as soft as merino. I got it online at the FJØRN Scandinavian site closeout sale for $50. __________________________

Does anyone have any first hand experience with Boll&Branch down alternative duvets? Looking for some feedback on Midweight vs Ultraweight (heavy), both in terms of weight (ounces) and warmth. Also, it seems like they offer a non-specified down alternative duvet and a Primaloft duvet. Any insights and recommendations between the two is appreciated. Was that you or the dog? |
Not a fan of much weight at all on top. We were looking for an electric blanket a few years ago and were intrigued by mattress warmers. Could not be happier. At night the thermostat goes to 65* and I only use a sheet and a single light thermal blanket with the mattress warmer on low. Heavenly. ___________________________ "Opinions vary" -Dalton

Occasionally Eddie Bauer seems to come out with a PrimaLoft duvet/comforter/blanket thing. We have on and it’s great. LL Bean has a similar one, made in USA of US and imported materials. The PrimaLoft website shows a few vendors as well. Serena and Lily show three weights as well. Lastly, maybe not decor friendly or quite big enough depending on bed size, but for a light weight warm blanket, I have a couple Kifaru woobies that are awesome. My wife and I are putting the dual zone electric mattress pad back on the bed. Bulky blankets I don’t like and the mattress pad makes getting into bed MUCH nicer. I think it has 5 settings, anything over 3 is like sleeping on a pizza oven to me. I thought she got it on The Zon but the past order search didn’t show anything. She’s already sleeping otherwise I’d ask. I’ll find out in the morning. -------- After the game, the King and the pawn go into the same box.

Still deciding. Mixed reviews of product and/or company make decisions hard. Absence of quantitative metrics also makes comparisons difficult (what is "warm" or warmest" or "lightweight"). Sleeping bags have some comparative measures, why not these products? Any first hand experiences / opinions on these two choices: https://www.williams-sonoma.co...t-and-pillow-insert/ https://www.llbean.com/llb/sho...ULAT*PrimaLoft&pos=3 "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it." Legalize the Constitution |
We like a down comforter and have used one for the winter for many years now. Our first one was from Eddie Bauer, the one we have now is L.L. Bean. We always put a comforter cover on it (perhaps duvet is the proper term) which adds warmth and keeps the down comforter clean. Never, ever, have we had a problem with down escaping. Pretty sure we buy “lightweight” as far as down fill; in the house and with a cover, it’s always been adequate during a Wyoming winter. _______________________________________________________ despite them

The WS is expensive but would be easier to return (brick mortar). I need to map what lightweight down would be in ll bean primaloft. . I like the properties of down but I've been burned so many times in my life that I can't bring myself to buy it anymore. No comforters, no jackets, no pillows. I envy those who have good luck with down. "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it." L.Tolstoy "A government is just a body of people, usually, notably, ungoverned." So I got a Tommy Bahama comforter at Costco a few years ago. It is GD warm. Another possible alternative is to get a flannel set of sheets. After the first wash they are very soft, warm and comfortable. I get chilly in cooler weather, especially sitting at my dining room table. As a result, a friend gave me an electric Little Red Riding Hood cape with a (surprisingly) hood. I had been using a blanket as a wrap, but the cape/hood cover is much better, having variable heat control. Thanks to my friend, I am no longer like the cartoon character, Chilly Willy - the little penguin who is never able to get warm! No quarter .308/.223

I got camping quilt from Kodiak Canvas. Like a sleeping bag but just a quilt. No zippers. Looks like queen size only but it works on my bed. I also use it when I go to the hunting shack or when I plan to spend the night on the ice in the ice fishing house. Great warmth and just the right weight. The outside is canvas material and the inside is a soft flannel. no slipping around on your bed or cot like that slippery nylon shell most sleeping bags are made of. Nice and soft. At $120 I consider it a steal after using it. I've had mine for about five years. Only drawback is it's manufactured in China. I almost didn't buy because of this. I did question the company about this and they were trying to make the transition back to the states and away from China. Or at least they claimed that. But it was exactly what I was looking for and there was not much out there like it so I took the chance. Not everything made in China is junk. Much of it is but this product is an exception in my view. Comes with a nice soft bag as well so you can stuff the blanket in it when you are taking it with you. Highly recommend. I still have a couple of my Army poncho liners. I keep one in the car for 'just in case' and one next to my bed for cooler nights. They're lightweight, warm, washable, and perfect for my needs. They make great additions to my sleeping bag when out on colder nights and are fairly inexpensive. "Cedat Fortuna Peritis"

I've been researching product possibilities, including the companies, considerably. It's proving very difficult to find a good product, not made in chicom, from a good company. One surprising thing: made in USA doesn't mean what I thought it meant. Legally, it allows for the material to come from chicom. For example, the cotton material can come from chicom but as long as the comforter is assembled and stitched in USA, it can be labelled as made in USA. No, I don't want that. I don't want materials coming from chicom, internal filler or the covering material. Especially when people reviews complain about the material (poor quality control, noisy, rough, etc). I'm about to give up. Maybe just stick to made in USA wool blankets or something. I'm resigned to bedding that may be heavier than preferred. Sigh.
