The Coast Guard medevacs a man from fishing vessel Bountiful 46 miles southwest of Saint Paul, Jan. 28, 2020. An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Kodiak safely hoisted the 43-year-old and transferred him to awaiting medical service personnel in Saint Paul for further transport to Anchorage. And they make it look easy.

Not only are our Coast Guard people good, but they do get around.
Barents or Bering?

Good lord those are some rough, unforgiving waters. Well done USCG.

I liked the comment of the video that said something to the effect that they didn’t see how the helicopter could carry
The crew since they have such large balls!

If it's near St. Paul Island, it has to be the Bering Sea. The Barents Sea is thousands of miles away.

A few years ago Weather Channel had a dozen or so episodes of Coast Guard Alaska. I could not find any of the on the site

http://weathergroup.com/newsro...4-coast-guard-alaska

but they're on YouTube, here's one:

I am just amazed the helicopter can even fly with a crew on board with obvious big balls of steel.

Semper Paratus indeed. And that is in relatively good weather for Alaska. Imagine doing it at night as well. Those CG helo pilots and crew are definitely heroic, and they are out there doing it 24/7 all across the country. I witnessed many of their rescues while orbiting overhead in the Falcon. Always have had a ton of respect for those helo bubbas.

It is REALLY amazing what the USCG does and the risks they take and they are probably the most unrecognized branch of the US.

Remember this movie about USCG rescue swimmers? Ok movie, good action scenes. Reminds me of An Officer & a Gentleman somewhat.

Does anyone know why USCG -60s are not equipped with refueling probes like AF rescue -60Gs and Army Spec Ops -60s? I know we're talking different missions, but for flights over the ocean one would think refueling capabilty would be wise.

The list below shows 27 C-130s that could be converted with wing drogues.

https://www.uscg.mil/datasheet...le/1547982/aircraft/

I suspect $$ is one issue, could it be the AF does not want to share the CONUS and AK long-range rescue mission?
