In my opinion if you want a great, versatile utility type light, the Streamlight 1L-1AA or its 90 degree head counterpart are very hard to beat.

Good warranty/company support.
Will literally run on damn near anything you can stuff into them from an alkaline aaa to rechargeable 123a. The sanctioned batteries are alkaline or lithium AA or CR123 but they will run on the others if necessary. (I have tried alkaline aaa/AA, eneloop aaa/AA, lithium aaa/AA/CR123 in mine and I have heard rechargeable 123 will work as well but I don’t have any of those)

Decent beam, small size, useful modes, user programmability, durable enough, good runtime, fairly inexpensive etc.

I have been meaning to do a write up on these.

They are not a lumen monster tactical light but with the interface and 350 lumen CR123 output they could be pressed into that service if desired but they really shine as a great utility/emergency light.

I have a dork torch (headlamp) and a regular flashlight made by them. The dork torch can be worn on the belt. I've never worn it like that. It's heavy on the head due to taking 4 AA batteries but it's bright and I like the ability to go wide or narrow with the beam. Both have always worked when I needed them. I bought them together years ago on clearance somewhere. No complaints.

I used to sell them wholesale.

Good stuff, always argued with the design guys (German) regarding packaging, certain designs hitting price-points and colors. Overall, good product, nothing really stood out, you weren't going to beat Coast on price and innovation was either with Surefire, or Streamlight for flashlights or, Petzl, Black Diamond and Princeton Tec for headlamps. It's a very crowded market, lots and lots of cheap Asian sourced product, along with the above major brands.

Coast

They satisfy a basic, entry level price-point, accessible to just about any type of retailer or, distributor, not performance or, designed based but, functional enough.
