We have a Maytag Range model MER8775AW0 that has started to not heat evenly. The center of cakes, brownies, etc. are uncooked/raw and the rest appears to be done. I did a looking on www.repairclinic.com and it sounds like it may be the oven sensor. Problem is, that appears to be integrated into one of two control board which are both over $250. Is there anything else I can try to fix this or do I just need a new range/oven?

BTW...if replacing, I am done with Maytag/Whirlpool! Any recommendations on commercial/durable ranges/ovens? My wife bakes cakes, etc. on the side from time to time and we want something that works, period. I have replaced ovens at least 3X in the past 10+ years and am sick and tired of pissing money down the drain. We had a JenAir, GE and now Maytag and this is the third strike on the Maytag.

It's definitely NOT the element(s), already checked. I'll try the Temperature Sensor one of you found (THANKS!) and if that doesn't work a shopping we will go. My wife has to bake a wedding cake in a few weeks.

We just replaced our Maytag with a Frigidaire because the oven wouldn’t heat above 155. But ours was over 12 years old only the baking coil going out twice over its lifetime, and we figured it would cost about 300 to fix.

Put a thermometer in the oven and check temperature compared to setting.

You are correct sir. My oven has two bake elements.

Looks to me like the temp sensor is a plug and play part: https://partsdr.com/part/w1018...sor?model=MER8775AW0

Amazon has it a lot cheaper: https://www.amazon.com/Ultra-D...355&s=gateway&sr=8-2

This^^^^^

And I have seen some ovens that do run both broil and bake elements at the same time, but only during preheat.

My GE has dual element bake, but it isn’t a common feature.

If you've gone through 3 ovens in 10 years, something is most likely wrong with the wiring in your house. Check the plug and see if you have 120 volts on each line to neutral and if you have 240 volts between line 1 and 2 with a multimeter. Did you replace the cord when you replaced the oven? Check the connections where the cord attaches to the oven and check voltages there. I would rule all of this out before digging into the oven itself.

I agree that it looks like the temperature sensor is bad. Just add longer bake times. Big Grin

What year is the appliance?? I find older appliances are better and easier to fix. Here is a temperature sensor from ebay for $9 using the manufactures cross reference WPW10181986. Buy two or a dozen?
