Anyone familiar with the bonded title process (time, cost, etc) in TX.

Looks fairly simple from the DMV site, but foreign territory to me.

I had one in the early 90’s. Not really that big of a deal. Insurance companies total cars that could easily be repaired because of inflated labor and part costs. Just forms to fill out and typical bureaucracy. I would definitely check with insurance company on insuring one just to be safe before you spend any money.

What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

Short version, it's a free car, no fishy business or anything, but the prior posessor had some bad interaction with the titled owner & never got the title & had the car nearly 2 years.

Current owner has tried to contact the titled owner a few times to no avail & has had the car over a year.
