They have never tried to regulate the one overwhelming source of manmade pollution, not once in human history. Container ships.

Some facts about bulk container ships:
* They burn bunker crude. The most polluting fuel source on the planet.
* Two giant bulk container freighters produce more carbon and greenhouse pollutants annually than every single car, truck, plane and train in the United States combined.
* One bulk container freighter produces approximately 4 coal power plants worth of greenhouse gasses every year.
* 10 bulk container freighters produce about the same greenhouse gas emissions as all the worlds internal combustion engine powered things (cars, trucks, planes, trains, diesel pumps, etc.)

Now for the really, REALLY, important fact:
* - There's 70,000 of them on the ocean. 20,000-30,000 of which are of the largest bulk variety.

Thus, we could remove all the cars, motorcycles, planes, trucks, tanks, jets, pleasure boats in the entire world, and if you don't regulate the container ships... the entire world could go back to the horse and buggy and it would reduce global emissions by less than 1 one hundredth of 1 percent.

I'd like to see where these stats come from.

Bunker crude? Bunker C is a grade of fuel. Crude is what it's all derived from.

The physics of the claims about container ships don’t work.

It’s horse pucky.

I had heard part of the reason why NYC is banning NG is their gas lines are so degraded, they basically need a complete replacement.

If the Dems really cared about the environment, they’d be much more interested in green NG/green ammonia/green biodiesel/ethanol.

Eliminate the tariff on overseas ethanol, and its competitive with gasoline.

New buildings just won't have gas service to connect to.

I’m baffled as to why Republicans have never tried the “environmental approach” when it comes to trade with China. Ban it, or tax the heck out of it because of “carbon impact”.

We will still import things from Europe, because they are high value, but Democrats would have to support this. Win/win as it weans us off of China…

If they don't regulate container ships? Ha! That's a hoot. They already regulate the absolute shit out of the shipping industry, particularly on emissions.

And the plain reality is, for the amount of goods and tonnage moved by these ships, they are in fact extremely efficient compared to any other method.

About half of the residential households in the US use natural gas. So the demand for electricity in NYS will roughly double in the winter. No less than Tesla CEO Elon Musk has stated that for all vehicles in this country to go electric we will have to double electric generation. I’ve done the calculations and he is correct. That also means we will have to double the transmission and distribution system as well, even taking into account photovoltaic solar power. It has taken over a hundred years to get to the generation, transmission and distribution systems we have right now. What makes anyone think we can double or quadruple that accomplishment in 10-12 years?

So a big part of that, is already being done as batteries replace the auxiliary generators to load balance on the grid.

Frankly, given the right set up, electric cars could be set to mostly charge with the waste power at night.

Yes, lots of work would still need to be done, but smart chargers/just alter pricing so that residential customers see the ultra low demand pricing rates.

It might require moving residential customers over to demand pricing/at least putting in a dedicated charging meter with demand pricing.

Actually surprised that didn't come first. The enviros have been on the ban wood burning crusade for decades citing air particulates/global warming. Banning natural gas and insisting on all-electric large appliances just encourages energy monopolies while burdening the populace with less energy options.

I hear the governor’s mansion has plenty of wood inside for others to use for heat in an event of an emergency.

The plan is for ALL oil, gas and begrudgingly coal, to be used to generate electricity.

(nationalizing it of course "for our own good", for manageability and enforcement, giving complete and total control of all energy in the country to the same people who couldn't make a functioning website in two years)

Ironically Europe sees wood burning as green and North America ships huge quantities of wood pellets to Europe for their fireplaces/furnaces.

Modern wood burning furnaces like used in the Baltics are pretty damn efficient. Not as clean as gas but, their output is solid when set-up right.
