patwThat's a shocker, no pun intended. It's amazing at how some people can screw up the world given the chance.

egregoreAnd when existing gas appliances wear out and have to be replaced, they won't be able to buy new ones, I assume. Rewiring a house or especially apartment buildings for 220V to run an electric stove could run $$$.

But hey, they voted for it.

Balzé HalzéRestaurant owners and chefs are going to love this.

Seriously, the left makes everything worse. They make the world ugly, they make themselves ugly, and now they want to make people cook food in a horribly inferior manner.

Scooter123Oh, please please please let there be major, long lasting, blackouts in NYC, Albany, and Buffalo. Some in the summers when it's blazing hot and some in the winters that last long enough that every facility reliant on electric heat has pipes burst. Then perhaps these climate freaks would realise that there are real consequences to their stupid schemes.
PS: A tip for those residing in New York, get yourself a wood fired stove. It will not only provide a means of cooking it will also do well to heat 2 or 3 rooms in a house. I'll also point out that when a house is actually cold enough to freeze pipes the only reliable water supply will be a subsurface inlet line. So have a plumber install a good ball type shutoff line at the inlet and a hose bib upstream of that shutoff. Because after you have drained every water line in the house that hose bib is your only water supply.
I've stopped counting.

1s1kFriend of mine sent me this. It’s kind of a long read but it makes the stuff we are doing seem like tossing deck chairs off the Titanic to make the ship lighter all while crushing the middle class.
Shipping pollution
They have never tried to regulate the one overwhelming source of manmade pollution, not once in human history. Container ships.
Some facts about bulk container ships:
* They burn bunker crude. The most polluting fuel source on the planet.
* Two giant bulk container freighters produce more carbon and greenhouse pollutants annually than every single car, truck, plane and train in the United States combined.
* One bulk container freighter produces approximately 4 coal power plants worth of greenhouse gasses every year.
* 10 bulk container freighters produce about the same greenhouse gas emissions as all the worlds internal combustion engine powered things (cars, trucks, planes, trains, diesel pumps, etc.)
Now for the really, REALLY, important fact:
* - There's 70,000 of them on the ocean. 20,000-30,000 of which are of the largest bulk variety.
Thus, we could remove all the cars, motorcycles, planes, trucks, tanks, jets, pleasure boats in the entire world, and if you don't regulate the container ships... the entire world could go back to the horse and buggy and it would reduce global emissions by less than 1 one hundredth of 1 percent.

There are a number of exemptions and among those are restaurants.

I thought I heard that there are no exemptions.

Backup emergency generators, laundromats, commercial restaurants and hospitals are exempted from the new law and it prohibits cites or other localities from carving out more exemptions.

The ban also extends to heating oil and propane, raising questions about the future of these fuels in New York state’s more rural communities.
Seriously?

I’m baffled as to why Republicans have never tried the “environmental approach” when it comes to trade with China. Ban it, or tax the heck out of it because of “carbon impact”.
We will still import things from Europe, because they are high value, but Democrats would have to support this. Win/win as it weans us off of China…

mark60They were already trying to ban wood stoves and fireplaces last year. That died down for now but will surely come back up again.
One detail not mentioned yet is that our price at the gas pump and home heating costs will increase starting in 2025 to provide rebate money for switching to electric.
