It’s wonderful but I’m already fearing I’ll leave them way too soon.

WOW! I feel like a kid at age 47 here! Big Grin

Children are a blessing, at any age.
Our 3 have recently left the nest...

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Welcome once again to the "Old Dad's Club"!

The great news is that having kids late makes you a way more level-headed parent. More patient, kind, loving. More wisdom to share.

The bad news... having to chase away boys from your teenage daughter in your 60's or 70's Big Grin

My plan is to stay fit, keep rolling jitsu, and fit my pistols with red-dots to overcome my diminishing eye sight. Big Grin

Enjoy the ride and we look forward to seeing pics of a healthy baby when the time comes.

Congrats as well. I am currently 37 with our first due within a few days of my 38th birthday coming up in a few months. I am trying to follow the get healthy advice as well. My mom had me when she was 40, I think I've turned out reasonably okay so I don't think I have as much to worry about as a an "old" dad.

That's so awesome.

I was pretty indifferent when we were about to have our first. Now, 12 years later, I wish I had started earlier and had more. 4 keeps us busy, but I think we could have handled more, and I feel like we were blessed with an environment and household that would be a good place for more.

Not in the cards tho, it seems.
