Can't get the darn thing to go off.

Currently using a very strong vinegar/water solution. Running it through, pouring it back into the reservoir, doing it again, etc, etc.

This is the second time I've tried this procedure.

Bought it in July for my mom, but after her passing at 92, we took it home.

Is there a secret handshake I don't know about to get this light to shut off?

Unplug and plug it back in? Kinda like a PC Reboot.

If the unplug doesnt work, try holding down a button at time for 10 seconds. I think I had to do that on mine once.

You need to purge all water out, then fill the tank with 100% white vinegar, then brew like 4 cups through to push all that water remaining out, then fill tank again and let it fill. You want the internals all full of 100% vinegar.

Then let sit on for 2-3 days, then purge and flush really well.

That should do the trick

Is it a Keurig branded model? I have a Cuisinart version of a Keurig that I have to hold a button combo (hot water and rinse) to reset the light after de-scaling.

Some of the models require running three to four full tanks through after the descale process.

(I found out on mine that four brews of water were not enough to get the taste of the descaling juice out. That was some nasty brown liquid. Almost thought I was back on the flightline...)

If it has Stainless steel internals, I would use a citric acid powder solution. You can get it where canning supplies are sold. Like Walmart. I think I use about a 1/3 cup to treat 4 liters.

I have a hot water pot that has two dispense speeds. The low speed stopped working and since it was outta warranty, I pulled the bottom cover off to have a look. It had an opaque, whitish silicone formed hose for the drain/output. In touching the hose, it became evident that the inside was caked with crumbly white mineral deposits. I didn't see any burn or heat marks on the printed circuit, no bulged or leaking capacitors, no apparent 'cold' solder joints. So I put it back together, flushed it out several times and wouldn't ya know, it worked perfectly and much quieter too.

I clean it about twice a year and it hasn't given another problem in twice the time it took to act up before. I stopped using pure vinegar on anything after it ate/thinned some chrome off of a brass shower head I was cleaning overnight.

We use filtered water (Brita) for our Keurig. Really cuts down on the problems.

This. And you will taste the vinegar until you've purged the whole system multiple times. I did it with vinegar then distilled water for the purge part.

Do you have a Keurig with separate buttons for the brew size?

If so,
“Remember, if you clean your machine and the light stays on, all you have to do is hold down the 8oz and 10oz for 5 seconds and the light will turn off.”

Also, you may need to stick a sewing needle or stick pin into the needle to clear it.

Thanks guys!

It also started to not run a full amount, ask for 12oz and you get 2oz.

I got a replacement from Amazon and it's winging its way back to the mothership as I type this.

Good info on the two buttons to clear the light.

Thanks again!

We had the same problem with our 2 year old Keurig. tried all sorts of descaling products - nothing worked. Called Keurig and they offered me a great deal on a new model - which we took. Its been 4+ years and no scale issues with same water.

I have an old one, no descale option but have found that using distilled water will speed up the process

I hated having cream curdle in my first cup after an incomplete flush. Now I just use distilled water and no more descaling. Machine is old, think I bought it about 2012-2014, and it is still original except for the screens I use with Aldi coffee.

Be carefull if you add water to the resevoir while it is on the machine. Causing it to injest an air bubble could result in your cup running over.

Edit to add: Usually when it injests air I get one or two cups of only a few ounces, then one that is close to 20 oz. before it functions properly. I suspect there is a two chamber system that has to be purged.
