Found an old thread with some info but maybe there’s newer tech now. We bought a 29’ motorhome and it needs a camera. I don’t want one that is hardwired unless that’s what it really takes at that length. I don’t want to break the bank but I also don’t want buyers remorse over a pos. What do you like and what should I avoid? Thanks, Kevin

The Garmin BC-30 is good. It needs a Garmin GPS device for display. The GPS will do double duty, GPS and rear-view display. Or some of the Garmin GPS models will do triple duty, the additional function is built-in dash camera.

Connection between BC-30 back-up camera and the GPS / display that sits on top of your dashboard or suction cups to the windshield, is via wifi; many of the other wireless types are bluetooth. My experience is that for this type connection, wifi is more reliable than bluetooth.

A major plus for Garmin products is the outstanding customer service and tech support, U.S. based, so if you need anything, you will get somebody who speaks American English and understands our culture.

I’d probably have to upgrade my old garmin. Not sure how it’s compatible. After more reading I’m not too adverse to wired. It wouldn’t be much more difficult on my rig.

The Garmin BC-40 is rated for 26’. That will be pushing it in my application. I did find an attractive bundle with a drive smart 55LM.

Thanks V. I pulled the trigger on the Garmin package. I have another home for it if it doesn’t work on the rv.
