I think the survey is confusing favorite with cheap, proximity, and convince. Taco bell isn't the favorite place it is the easiest place so people are most likely to go there.

TB is neither Mexican nor food.

Last time I had Taco Bell was a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday. I was out running errands and suddenly decided to stop in at Taco Bell and pick up about 20 dollars worth of food. I went home and just as I was walking into the kitchen, the wife was about to cut an apple for her lunch. Change of plans, sweetie. Big Grin

"Are you kiddin'?" she asked me. But she had some anyway. Big Grin

I guess the best way to describe Taco Bell is Tex-Mex fast food, although that is not entirely accurate.

It’s not anything close to authentic Mexican, but I think that the Crunchy Taco Supreme is tasty. Maybe better in some stores than others.

There’s a Taco Bell in Trinidad Colorado, just over the border from NM. It’s better than the attached KFC. Faint praise.

In my neck of the woods, when one craves Mexican style fast food, Del Taco is where the locals go over Taco Bell. I cant remember the last time I went to a TB for food, heck I think we only have 2 left around here vs 5 or 6 Del Tacos.

I'm 53 and have never eaten Taco Bell food. I've just always considered them the bottom of the barrel of fast food. Am I wrong?

Kinda, sometimes bottom of the barrel really hits the spot, ya know? I do remember back in the 90s TB had some kinda steak taco-thing, I think it might have been a gordita or chalupa, either way it wasnt half bad. Not even sure if they have em anymore.

Or as Olive Garden is to Italian

A few decades ago I was sitting in a Taco Bell and an employee walked in carrying a box that had PROCESSED MEAT PRODUCT stenciled on it. The manager said "good, the other restaurant let us have a box of beef, did you get cheese too?"

#6, steak, with a soft taco (instead of the hard one) and a side of nacho cheese.

What I like about TB is that it is much easier to order a small amount of food there than other places. Also, I can eat a small lunch for a buck or two If I bring my own drink and go through the drive thru.

Dollar menu Frito burrito for the win. Hot sauce is a must on anything they sell for me though.

I would never, for even one minute, try to convince anyone that Taco Bell is "Mexican Food". I live in an area where there are an abundance of Mexican restaurants, ranging from chain stuff, to mom-and-pop real life, authentic Mexican food. And I love Mexican food.
Yet, once in a while, I will eat at Taco Bell. And when the mood strikes, it ain't bad.

Back in my college days, Del Taco was pretty good. The one that's in my part of your state now? Sucks ass. Literally terrible food.

Say what you will, but the Taco Bell here is clean, efficient, and they don't seem to hire dirt bags like every other fast food joint does. I think I'll have Dorito's Loco's Tacos for lunch.
