One of my friends always makes his students do stuff using James K Polk. Most have never even heard of him' but because of my friend there a ton of youtube, blogs, and lesson plans all about Polk.

He likes him because he campaigned on making government smaller, and did that then didn't even run for re election.
He seems to be a man of his word.

I'm old enough to have watched Jack Parr.

There's lots of interesting history about obscure Presidents.

Grover Cleveland had an out of wedlock child. During his campaign supporters of his opponent would chant, "Ma, ma, where is Pa?" The response from supporters was, "He's gone to Washington, ha ha ha."

His name always gets a smile in our house...back in second grade, my daughter dressed up as Millard Fillmore for her school's Hall of the Presidents presentation. The kids had to research a particular president, and then dress up as him, and then all the parents came to ask the various presidents questions about their term and activities. Based on parents' questions and even quizzical looks when seeing my daughter's nametag, Fillmore truly was the Unknown President.

Cute stuff, and I thought it was a great way to introduce young kids to history in a fun and live way.

He was born or lived in Moravia NY (about an hour SW of Syracuse), close to where I grew up. I recall the town hosting Fillmore Days, featuring bathtub races to honor the president who had the first bathtub installed in the White House.

There is a state park called Fillmore Glen.
