Problem is I didn't order one, I have Verizon for my mobile. I've called AT&T 3 times today since I got the email at 1:34pm est ,explaining I did not order a phone, cancel the shipment/etc. Fedex has provided me with a tracking number and will be delivered tomorrow by 8:00pm. 3rd call I explained all this and the agent on the other end , thinks that I can refuse the delivery/signature.I'll be lucky if I even see the Fedex driver put the box on the porch. I've also called the credit union and requested a new debit card, even though no charges have appeared yet.

Leave a note on the door for the FedEx driver, instructing him to Return To Sender?

I would guess that the money will factor in when or if you try to activate the phone.

And stop using your debit card as a charge card.

AT&T is sending you an iPhone 12 because they sent you an email? It sounds like you are falling for a fishing scam, hook, line, and sinker. What number did you use to call AT&T? Please say it wasn’t the one in the email. If you did use the one in the email, I hope you didn’t give them any personal information.

Yep, this is an order confirmation scam. They are phishing for private information, or attempting to hijack your computer. Do not call any numbers in the email; they will ask you for passwords or other information. Do not click on any links, it will be a sham website for ATT and will collect your log-in info. Do not open any attachments, it will unload a trojan that will kidnap your email server for more spamming.

I get a couple of these a week. The first time I saw one, I started to react the same way.

For the record, I did not click the links in the email. I exited out, went to official AT&T pages, called a verified phone number in their customer service and fraud departments.

You didn't need to waste any of that precious time of yours. The fact that you didn't initiate anything should have been the 1st clue. If that didn't smack you on the head, you having Verizon and not AT&T should have been the 2nd clue. Last clue is your card didn't get charged. A business is not going to ship you anything without taking your money first.

I get these "Order Confirmed" scam emails all the time. They go immediately to SPAM without a thought.

I wouldn't even waste my time on a response.

If you did down into the email I bet the address it came from isn't "AT&T" it might have "AT&T" somewhere in the address but I bet it's not an official email.

The exiled Minister of Finance of Nigeria is sending me 11.7 million dollars.

Many beautiful Ukrainian girls lust for me, so it's a good thing that I am getting email messages offering Cialis and Viagra.

If you went to the official FedEx site, saw a tracking delivery, then it's undeliverable, something really isn't adding up.

I have no doubt it was a scam. But I can't see someone sending you actually anything and the actual FedEx company would be involved.

I think this was a good teaching moment for you from all the good advice you got on this thread like 12131 and coolrich.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Here is a link to the "official" FedEx tracking website : https://www.fedex.com/fedextra...8000~526061312269~FX

My entire concern in this was that an item I did not order ,was being delivered to my house, via Fedex ,which has a habit of just delivering regardless of signature/instructions/etc , or heaven forbid someone else in my house happened to sign for,etc and I would be on the hook, even though I have minimized the damages/potential lost with a small account I use specifically/fund minimally/etc.

https://www.fedex.com/fedextra...8000~526061312269~FX

So yes you are right ReyHRH ,something doesn't add up."I have no doubt it was a scam. But I can't see someone sending you actually anything and the actual FedEx company would be involved." But yet a package made it from Fort Worth Texas to Romulus ,MI before getting recalled. Which is ANOTHER reason why I posted this story ,but yet I am treated as though I am stupid,I don't remember referring to my time as "precious" ,and my interactions with AT&T ,and my Credit Union were all while I was commuting home,BEFORE I had full internet access via my desktop PC,and my debit card had a PENDING authorization in St.Louis Missouri, which just happens to be the home of AT&T(as it later turns out via the Credit Union,MasterCard purchases go through and authorization process in St.Louis Missouri. But thanks to the wise elders I'll change my shopping habits (No where did I say I used my debit card on line),and FYI CoolRich59,Mr.Fucking Know It All#1,my debit card(which was not compromised) could have/might have/hypothetically been compromised at a gas pump, a party store, the grocery store, my doctors office etc. Or do you pay all those with a credit card as well? Maybe I don't use credit cards because I have faltered in my younger days and spent money I didn't have back then and amassed debt that took me a good while to climb out from, etc. I've also had a Citibank CC that I NEVER use, locked in drawer that was "compromised" they said and issued me a new one, had nothing to do with what I did or didn't do online,in person,on vacation, etc. Maybe see if I can get someone to run up to the $10K limit available on my credit card rather than consulting with my CU to potential fraud on a $500 account, 'cause my heart wouldn't flutter much when I opened that new balance $10k statement, along with calling my son who works at Best Buy ,has changed our plan/phones/cable a couple times along with ordering himself the latest and greatest gadgets, before I call anyone else. Or maybe I should just run home and get the SF folks to figure it out for me,keep me grounded, blame the victim, and remind me how dumb I am. And Dr.Q Know it All#2 you are right" A business is not going to ship you anything without taking your money first." But SOMEONE did, and when I was originally on the phone with AT&T and their fraud department they DID show the order, they did say it would be cancelled ,but the FedEx info came an hour after that phone conversation, and as explained above a "pending transaction" was posted to my card from St.Louis MO. Maybe you should get all the clues before smacking people in the head. After all when you were pissing and moaning about Gunbroker I didn't tell you to smack yourself in the head and get a clue.

I got a hold of one of my contacts at FedEx…
Looks like AT&T put in a stop delivery on the
package and requested it be returned.
I do have the return AB number.
I guess one of your calls really did help!
Good for you!

As a matter of fact, I do use a credit card at the gas pump, grocery store, party store, doctors office, etc.

I never use my debit card except to occasionally withdraw cash at an ATM - and only at ATMs at Chase or another big bank.

When your credit card is hacked and fraudulent charges are posted, you are not liable.

When your debit card is hacked and some scammer cleans out your checking account, you’ve got problems.
