Two days ago the audio out from my FM/AM-Stereo tuner in my main stereo system died. Everything else in the system and with the tuner functions properly which means that a capacitor or IC in the output stage has failed in the tuner.

And today I went to watch a Blu-Ray disc in my Home Theater system and no audio signal from the player was being received by my A/V receiver indicative of a bad HDMI cable or again an audio output stage failure. All other HT source components work just fine.

What are the odds? @#$%^&!!

I'm just not up for the challenge right now. Pulling the tuner out of the non moveable rack will be a major PITA given all the wiring behind. I'm not as limber and flexible as I was when I set it up. I don't squat well and forget getting up from sitting on the floor.

As for the Blu-Ray player, my first step would be to pull it and take the one from my upstairs master bedroom system and swap it into the home theater system using the existing HDMI cable. Depending on the results go from there.

Again I'm just not feeling up to any of this shit right now. I'm just old damnit. Frown

I suspect that the issue is simpler and will become apparent after another review.

HDMI cables can (and do) go bad. Try changing it out.

On electronic equipment with age, capacitors are the first thing to fail.

Had the HVAC repairman replace the three year old Capacitor in my A/C unit.

$365, ouch.

OTOH, Zenith Capacitors in a 60 year old tube type radio often check good.

Don't ask

Haven't touch anything in a week. Fired up the stereo and switched in the tuner and damned if it wasn't back to normal. No clue what had happened earlier.

Pressed on to my home theater to see if luck was there too. No joy. Gotta muster the energy to do diagnostic swapping to isolate the culprit.

bald1 maybe try using a short rolling stool like you might if you were working on your brakes. I think it’s time I upgrade my rolling stool to one of the pneumatic adjustable ones also.

I feel ya! A lot of what I can do depends on whether it is above waist level or below. If I found a thousand dollar bill on the ground I'd have to leave it because I couldn't get down there to pick it up! Smile
