A little history-over the course of my career in the prison system, I discovered, reported and testified when necessary over staff having sex with inmates. It's never right, it isn't considered consensual, and is a crime. I have a very low tolerance for sex abuse. (Zero is a low number.) I counted it up once, it ran 36 cases three decades ago. It was depressing so I stopped counting. I've worked male and female prisons, so the abuse was of any sexual permutation you can come up with, including a male staffer forcibly sodomizing a male inmate. That being said....

All of these cases saddened and disappointed me, some more than others. I've had people I considered friends confess this shit to me. It goes on and on. But today I found out, IN THE DAMNED NEWSPAPER, that someone who was a former cop who I worked with in a post retirement job was in jail for a sex abuse case involving a minor, and had just been indicted in another county for a similar offense. I know he's innocent until proven, etc, but still, there was enough evidence to indict in two counties so it doesn't look good.

This was yet another friend and co-worker was most likely playing fuck around.

What the hell is wrong with people? There are 7 billion people in the world you can have sex with, and just a relative handful that are "off limits."

I'll get over it, but I do wish it would stop happening. There's always a trail of human debris left behind.

I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I am not

I am right there with you! the number of staff that had sex with inamtes was crazy. Some took the job just so they could! Out of 60+ cases maybe 5 got charged and maybe three got any jail time!!!

And then I had a family member that raped his daughter multiple times and is now doing life! (wich he deserves). It is very sad.

I understand how you feel. We had similar issues when I was training recruits for the navy.

Anytime you have someone in a position of authority cross that line, it is abuse. My first year as an RDC, the sailor of the year and RDC of the year awards both went to the same person. He was caught a few months later taking female recruits home with him at night.

I found out that a friend from a previous ship, who got orders there while I was still there, was screwing recruits. We here best friends with him and his wife. My wife had gotten his wife a job at the Dr's office she worked at. I was never able to get past it.

Different but...

WHen working on my MBA I had a study partner from work. He was prior Army and me Navy so we were able to work and communicate pretty easily about classroom items.

One day I get a strange email from his home account to my work email. Looked VERY much like a phishing spam email and had a few links. I let him know I thought his home email was hacked and he said it was and, "just delete the email."

Except there was one problem - it was to my work email and direction from IT was ALL suspect emails get forwarded to them WITHOUT clicking on the links. (IT would send out fake emails to help train people to follow this direction.

Sooo, I forward the email as directed and forget about it. About a few days later my work computer is "confiscated" by IT and study partner is arrested for child porn.

Less than six months later he's in, "fuck you in the butt" prison for five years, divorced, and a permanent restraining order against him for no contact with his kids.

I have no regrets forwarding that email and feel really sorry for his wife (gorgeous lady BTW) and the children

To clarify-I was really upset when I wrote the OP-this guy was a street cop, highly respected and decorated. The current charges involve a minor. Yeah, I know, worse, right?

“ we covet what we see every day”. I believe that’s from Silence of the Lambs, but it seems to hold true in many situations.
I am more and more disappointed in people every day.
