Bit my lip, then bit the same spot 2 more times
I chew my food like an animal and bit my lower lip. Ill be damn if I didnt bite the same spot two more times later on that day.

Is there a rational reason for doing so?

You enjoy pain??

Seriously, the area swells after bite #1 and is more likely to be bitten again......and again.....and again.....

If a lip is worth bitting once...it's worth bitting multiple times...

With me, it's my tongue...you would think that rascal would learn to get out of the way of those teeth!

Your teeth never heard of Pavlov.

I hope your lip heals quickly; that's awful to keep hurting yourself.

I bit mine a while back and (according to the dentist) ruptured a saliva duct. Had to have it whacked off with a laser and stitched up.

Good news is, I haven't done it again.

Yet.

Every time I bite mine, it always ulcers up and I have to hit the spot with a silver nitrate stick.

Very common. When you traumatize the duct of a minor salivary gland in the lip, fluid will build up and form a clear blister. They often will pop and release the pressure only to reform again.

The area you initially bit swells up and is therefore easily bitten again.

Heh, I posted about this a few months back. What I found is that chewing slowly and deliberately helps you avoid rebiting your lip. After about a week, it'll have gone down again.

I think this is it. I do it all the time when I bite my lip or the inside of my cheek.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

I bit my lip hard enough once to cause a mucocele cyst. It was removed surgically about 2 months later.

Since it worked, I’m not sure how that could be considered stupid. Or maybe it’s that I’m stupid for trying to offer helpful advice? Noted.
