I actually don't hate marijuana per se. I have never tried it nor do I have any desire to try it. I suppose my biggest opportunity was in high school and it never appealed to me then and nothing has changed since then.
This is what I hate ABOUT marijuana. I live in a country that has effectively embraced just about every aspect of marijuana from medicinal to recreational and everything in between. I am constantly surrounded by people who dabble in it or consider it a daily part of their activities. It is everywhere. I probably know more adults who use pot than drink sugary sodas. That is crazy.
I also have always lived in a parallel America where drug use of ANY kind isn't frowned upon, it is fucking prohibited, zero tolerance, no excuses, one and done, if you pop positive on any drug test you are done. Fired, dishonorably discharged, kaput, enjoy your second career kind of finality.
It is maddening to walk around knowing the shit is everywhere, people I know and love use it, and at the same time if any of it crosses over into my system I am fucked.
The incongruity of it all is maddening. Just make it legal. I still won't use it, probably wouldn't even try it, but I wouldn't have to be worried that it got into my system through no fault of my own.
I just want legal sanity. A recognition that this shit is all over the place. It is just marijuana. That is all.

The current drug is nothing like the pot of old!!!
I still don’t care. I would rather have one legal marijuana solution than this ridiculous hodgepodge we currently live under. You can legally buy it and consume it but you can’t take it on a plane trip to visit grandma. The idiocy of this patchwork approach makes a mockery of our justice system. Make it legal or wage a war against it. I think we all know what the reasonable choice there is.
Did I mention I don’t use or even like marijuana?

I haven't really noticed that much of a difference since becoming legal here. Sure, People were smoking it more discretely before than compared to now. Since the years it's been legal I've smelled it on a few people in stores and smelled it in parking lots outside a few restaurants but those responsible were not a problem. I might smell it from a car or such while driving and so on but maybe the impact here is not as severe as in other areas.

It’s common to have people come into my store reeking of weed now. I’m honestly a bit concerned that if I have a drug test, I’ll pop positive from inhaling the fumes.

Randolph Hearst played a big part of the process as well.

There are some folks that are not wrapped too tight, they end up in our ER with psychosis. There will always be folks like that. My main concern is the people who claim their driving is not impaired.

IIRC Marijuana is still illegal as far as the Feds are concerned... But legal in numerous states /cities or possibly illegal but not prosecuted...... Personally for qualified medical reasons should be allowed but recreational reasons should not be allowed but Alcohol is still accepted even with all of the problems caused by its use..... drill sgt.

State of Colorado released the results of a survey they did recently. 40% of the GenZ folks surveyed thought they could drive safely after or while consuming cannabis.
Put some mannequins out there, carrying groceries or with a stroller or whatever. Let me see if I can navigate the crosswalk after a couple of good bong hits.

That's the problem right there. Pretty soon, pot users will get taxed to oblivion like tobacco smokers did. Then they will go back to buying pot on the street because its cheaper. Government sees decline in pot tax "revenue" and increases taxes somewhere else.
“I used to be totally into Steve Vai and Joe Satriani and other shredders, and I tried to emulate what they did and really grow as a guitarist,” Mr. Hanneman said in “Louder Than Hell.” “Then I said, ‘I don’t think I’m that talented, but more important, I don’t care.’ ”
I got into perhaps the dumbest conversation of my life with my sister in law last year. She too thought she wasn’t impaired after smoking weed. Not only could I not convince her that of course she was impaired, she couldn’t even understand the concept that it would be even provable through experiment. She is not a bright bulb, was it the weed or just genetics? Chicken and the egg perhaps. Although I doubt the weed helps. Lol

Here is my take on marijuana: When I was young I smoked a lot of it. Stopped smoking in the late 70's. People say it is a lot stronger now, Yes and no. Back in the late 60's and early 70's there was your typical Mexican and Jamaican. Got you stoned but was dirt weed cheap. BUT, there was also Hawaiian and Thai sticks that would kick your ass. It was more expensive than dirt weed.
Two year ago when it became legal here I started smoking it every night before bed. It does help me fall asleep. I never smoke any other time during the day period. Yes, it is strong so I don't need to smoke much at all. Anyone that says it doesn't affect your driving is just crazy. The only reason it is legal IMO is for the tax made off the profit.

I really don't care about marijuana. The cat is out of the bag, there is zero chance of going back to making it an arrestable offense realistically. I just hate the weird is it or isn't it conundrum that society is in.
Even the medicinal thing is bullshit. Say the magic words, pain, anxiety, sleep, here is your medicinal card. Either way it is still illegal to smoke it in public but with vapes, gummies, drops, etc you can do anything but use your bong.
Sanity. That is all I want. Make it legal. Make it illegal. Flip a coin. Just make a decision society.

Most places have laws about drinking in public/public drunk. Why are people allowed to stink up public areas? Keep that shit 25 feet away from the entrances like cigarettes.

I smoked a little when I was younger . Very little . The first " real job " I got required that I pass a drug test to be hired . I passed with no problem . I spent the next 40 years in the same industry , always being subject to random tests . That took care of that recreational activity . I always said that the day after I retired I was going to smoke a great big joint and get fucked up to celebrate my retirement . That was seven years ago and I never did get around to it .

I'm with you on the lotto/school thing. My county just elected to spend a hundred frickin' million dollars on a school renovation. I think that amount of money is insane, for a lot of reasons, and we're guaranteed to see a property tax increase to fund this craziness. Lotto money funding the public schools? I don't see it, man.
So. Back to the original topic...
God bless America.
