I haven't seen ,
He said it's a Remington.
If it's an upland game gun I may pass.

To get a shorter barrel model.

If it's an 870, barrels are widely available, reasonably affordable, and super quick and easy to change.

Benelli Nova pump 12 gauge have an available recoil reducing insert. It is a metal tube with liquid mercury inside, held in a recess in the stock. Helps the balance of this light weapon also. A Nova Tactical, with a recoil reducer, would be a super purchase.

There are, as many said, lower recoil shells. But there is no escaping that they are lower performing as they either have less shot or lower velocity. I would still not care to be shot by a reduced recoil slug, even if it is 200 fps slower.

A good recoil pad can make a real difference.

Maybe not even that many. A reliable source told me that the "chack chack" sound is usually enough to do the job.

That may have been true at one time but times have changed. L lot of youngsters out there have no clue as to how it sounds when pump action is cycled. Those that do only know the sound from a video game so it's a rather poor imitation.

Personally I keep my 870 with one in the chamber and 4 in the magazine and all 5 are #1 buck. Someone breaks in my door their only warning will be the quiet snick of the safety shifted to Fire.

I've stopped counting.

My post was a reference to one of AirSoft Guy's most memorable posts.

I don't have a copy saved, but I'm sure that somebody can re-post it in this thread.

Give the Aquila mini shotgun shells a try.
They have reduced recoil and the shotgun will hold more of them as well.

Back in 2022 at the Michigan Skeet Championships we has a "floater" named Hilde assigned to our squad. BTW floaters are single shooters who get assigned to a squad that is short of the 5 person roster. Anyhow Hilde was 10 at the time, probably about 4 foot 9 and weighed in at I would guess a bit under 80 lbs. She shot every gun every gun except the 410 and tied my score in the 12 gauge event and she was shooting an O/U. This year we didn't have the pleasure of hosting Hilde on our squad but I did get to spend some time talking to her and she got to love on my puppy a lot. Naturally she has improved as a shooter and her dad found fer a 410 O/U to shoot and she beat me in the 410 shootoff when we tied.

I've stopped counting.

A lot of great advice here. Seems like there's definitely a 12GA solution in here for you to discover.

As someone who loves to run the mini-shells, if you do choose to purchase a new 12GA pump, look seriously at Mossberg, specifically at any of their models wearing a 'S' suffix in the model name (590S, for example). Straight from the factory those guns can shoot standard length 2 3/4", 3" AND 1 3/4" mini-shells, no adapter modification necessary. The mini-shells are not only light on recoil, but fun to shoot recreationally. I run them in my 590 Shockwave almost 100% of the time, though that one does require the OPSol Mini Clip adapter to achieve this (since my Shockwave is an earlier pre-S spec version). I've also used another of the adapters in my regular 500 as well; so far it's been without a hiccup over about 200+ mini-shells.

Thanks for asking this Bendable, because I have only used my Benelli M2 once.

After that first outing, my shoulder was so sore that I haven't used it since. It's a great shotgun, and I regret seeing it gather dust.

After seeing some of these great suggestions, I'm ready to use it again.

Maybe a >< bit of soreness, but, nothing particularly remarkable.

Trick is to have it properly-seated on the shoulder. Then it's just a big, sharp push that's not uncomfortable.

I've injured my brachial plexus with a semi auto 12 gauge (TriStar Viper*) and #6 bird shot. What helped me the most was a grind-to-fit Limbsaver pad. I now have them on all of my shotguns and it's made a MASSIVE difference in felt recoil and I haven't had to go back to the physical therapist for that since.

*For context, it's the 20" wood model. It's very light and the pad that comes on these things is absolute trash.
