If my airbags had deployed it would have been totaled.
With the amount of damage it did, I'm happy I only have a $100 deductible.

There has be so much construction here that there's nowhere left for them to go. The farm where I live is overrun with them in the evenings. I can't even plant flowers much less a garden anymore.

^^^^ That is the main reason I stopped riding. They are thick around here and the Fish & Game refuses to up limits on them. It is ridiculous. Millions of dollars in vehicle damage, deaths, injuries, diseases spreading from overpopulation, major tick infestations, and you cannot plant anything without having it fenced off. Yet, they dig in their heels.

It spun off into the woods. No doubt it was broken pretty badly. It was dark, I didn't check on it after checking the damage to my car.

Deer eat up all our ornamental and flowing plants. Over the years, literally thousands and thousands of dollars worth of plants. Like our house because we’re not fenced and don’t have dogs. They graze in peace. We’ll be getting a fence this year.

I don’t understand why deer, especially in settled areas, don’t figure out about avoiding cars. Even bird brained turkeys around here have it figured out. Not sure why deer can’t understand.

Why doesn’t gov do something rather than let all these accidents happen - money and life endangering.

I feel your pain. I'm an ace here in Montana. Car is paid for, but we keep high priced insurance just for deer collisions and windshield targeting rocks.

I’ve hit so many of the damn things over the years, I don’t even get upset any longer. Totaled a car and pickup, hit 5 with the Expedition that replaced the totaled car. New truck, yep whacked one last summer.

That’s just my personal vehicles. I’d really like to get back into motorcycles, just seems like a bad idea. I can truly feel your frustration and pain.

Sorry for the economic impact.

At 2:38 am I bet the deer don’t look before crossing the road.

Damn, I've been there. What a PITA! That's good to hear about the low deductible, though.

I saw three deer on the 20 mile trip to the dentist’s between 11am and 11:30am this morning. What are you guys doing to hit them?

In the last month, I’ve driven FL to MI, MI to FL, and FL to MI again. I saw plenty of dead deer and over 70 live ones on those trips, so it’s not like I’m not around them. In fairness, I saw 40+ at one time in a farmers field.

I’ve had one close call with a deer. I saw a guy total his SUV after he hit an alligator and lost control of his vehicle. I hit a turkey while riding my 1998 ZX9R in Minnesota, but that was due to poor decision making on my part.

Evidently this one was running from a coyote or dog.

I had just passed the usual herd grazing in someone's flower bed and thought I was in the clear.

@trapper "What are you guys doing to hit them?"

It was moving!

And camera's pick up light better than eyes.

What you see in the camera, is not as bright as it appears.

And that street light glare on top of everything.

Glad you didn't get bag punched, Marzy.

Sorry, it was a general question that I worded poorly and not meant to imply anyone did this to themselves. Members sig operator and reflex/deflex 64 posted they've had 5 or more of these accidents each which prompted my curiosity.

My close encounter would have been like Marzy's encounter except I saw the first one jump out in front of the Jeep in front of me. Like Dark Lords of the Sith, always two, there are and I had slowed down before the second jumped in front of me.

I hit a deer on my motorcycle a few years ago, totaled my bike and ended up in the emergency room with a broken leg and dislocated ankle. Can't really blame the deer, there's so much construction these days we've destroyed their habitat so they have no place else to go. When I was a kid back in the 70's, 80's and even 90's you almost never saw deer because there was plenty of space for them to live and hide but now I have a small herd of them in my neighborhood.

Yeah, he was bookin!

The camera has an unobstructed view as it's high in front of the mirror and my view was blocked by the A pillar and mirror, plus the camera has GREAT night vision.

I didn't even see it until it was at the passenger side.
