PHPaulGotta be something with Nort Duhkota. I sent a package to Cando, ND on June 3rd, it's STILL bouncing around between Bismarck, Fargo and someplace in MiniSnowDa.

rizzleSent a first class letter to Northern SD, from AZ.
Took 3 1/2 weeks to get there.
From what I read online North SD mail is going through Fargo ND.
Small news companies are having trouble getting the daily paper delivered too.

eagle10A few months back i had a similar experience. I have a package on auto delivery every three months. Got notification that the pkg shipped. Checked the tracking after several days.
The pkgs shipped from Tallahassee Fl (appx 60 miles away)
It was sent to Chicago, Il. From Chicago it went to Jacksonville, FL
From Jacksonville to Lake Mary.
From Lake Mary to Orlando.
Spent four days in Orlando - maybe went to Disney
From Orlando back to Jacksonville.
Jacksonville sent it to Tallahassee (starting point)
From Tallahassee to me the next day.
Total 12 days, over 2500 miles to make a 60 mile trip.

ChowserWe all know. I ordered something from a car parts place that is 35 minutes from my house. It got to the post office the next day, then spent the next 11 days going through 3 different states before it got delivered.
So I learned my lesson and the next time I ordered a part, I went there and waited 30 minutes to pick it up because they forgot I was outside (this was during covid time so I couldn't wait inside)
I never ordered from them again.

.38supersigAt least your package is moving.
I have had several packages camp out at Palmetto, Ga. (30268) for over four weeks.
Palmetto so shitty that it brought upon a congressional investigation to itself.
The solution? Rename it the Atlanta Distribution Center.

captain127In my area, ( northern AZ) if I want to mail something from my town to the next town over, it first goes all the way down to Phoenix then gets ( usually) shipped back up.

BassamaticWe've been having problems with the USPS for decades. Congress could fix it but for some reason they refuse to touch it. Wonder why? Maybe DOGE can fix it.

PASigI was just reading recently about the UK Royal Mail, they privatized it in 2013 and it's now a publicly traded company IIRC and not a UK government entity.
So it CAN be done. Whether that ever happens here remains to be seen, I really doubt it. What will end up happening is people will simply abandon them and go with the already established private companies like UPS and FedEx and even Amazon.

bald1It finally showed up late Monday. A full week to go two miles. Astounding. Yup really SNAIL mail!

oldfireguyMine get hung up in Colorado for days, sometimes 6-7. They just moved one out a few days ago and now it's in Alaska instead of Washington for a few days. Who knows when it will get here, it's been floating around now for 13 days.

jed7s9bIs this an issue with manual sorting? I thought the main mechanized sorting happens in fewer and fewer places. Surely the machines do an adequate job but the latest DEI hires just drop the containers in the wrong truck or simply toss them out.

That is absurd and truly the meaning of “snail mail.” I sent you an email to see if you like something and plan to send you one if you do. I will do UPS if so and hope for better.

Brandon BreezeI was literally just talking about this today!
Had a package go from Texas... to HAWAII then to California.
Another package went from Ohio... to ALASKA then to California
Another package took over a month to arrive. Shipped from PA, disappeared, then mysteriously appeared in NY, then to California... just to get delivered to the wrong house and it was never recovered.
Two packages that were supposed to be here last Friday, delayed until today.
Not sure I've had an on time package in several months. This seems like it started happening very shortly after the election. Not sure how that correlates, just an observation. Almost seems purposeful at this point.
I'm in CA if that didn't make sense.

konata88Allowing for variability in service quality, as service may be good in certain regions, terrible in others.
I can receive or send mail to the midwest 2000 miles away and have it done w/in 3 days.
Consistently, it takes at least 1 week to receive mail from the southern part of the state to the northern part. A mere 500 miles or so. It takes 3-4 days just to leave the southern state area. I'm thinking they need to translate addresses or something. I just don't get it; almost 200 years later, and delivering mail is no faster than the pony express.

shovelheadIf you are familiar with Michigan I have a package story for you.
Indiana to here, small box contains a watch. When it arrived here it went to a regional facility on Brownstown Twp., south-southwest of Detroit. From there to Detroit.
Now it gets good. Detroit to Grand Rapids, 160 or so miles from Detroit. Grand Rapids back to Detroit. Detroit to Lansing, about midway between Detroit and Grand Rapids. Lansing to here, about midway between Lansing and Detroit. Literally three trips upon Interstate 96 past here, I can hear 96’s traffic from my back yard.
But I sure can get my junk mail…….
