Use of military time outside of the military

Stop it.
When was the last time you called a store to ask what time they closed and they told you "such and such hundred hours".
They are going to speak English and say "such and such O'fucking clock pm"
If you are on active duty you get a pass otherwise the war's over man. You can get those spare parts for your head and just tell me what time Am or PM.

Except I use it in my job, like all the time, and my watch is set to it, so it's a hard habit to break. If I really want to twist your knickers, I'll start using Zulu time.

Isn't the definition of military time, "hurry up and wait?"

Do you mean a 24 hour clock? It's what I use and what is used pretty much everywhere except the U.S.

It's also used in the U.S. in many technical and science fields where you don't want any confusion.

Much of the world operates on a 24-hour clock. In Germany, if you say, "Zwei uhr," you mean two A.M. You say, "Vierzehn uhr" (fourteen o'clock) to mean the afternoon.

It's handy to be able to mentally convert. And not just in time.

Military time is also used in law enforcement. It prevents confusion, especially in notes and reports.

We have a judge in our circuit who, despite being on the bench for over 20 years, still cannot convert military time. Every time it comes up in court, they have to ask the officer to translate it to AM/PM time. Many an officer has tried (and failed) to teach that judge to simply "subtract 12 and add PM, if it's more than 12".

I get that some of you use it at your place of employment or overseas.
When not at these jobs and while speaking to someone here in the states you can simply use the same language as everyone else.
I don't have to bore everyone with some of the lingo and terms specific to my employment. I'd feel like I was seeking attention or putting others out if I did.

I use it all the time, except when communicating with the 24-hour-clock-challenged.

Every clock in the house, as well as computers, phones, tablets, TVs, alarm and surveillance systems, irrigation system, stove, microwave, etc. are all set to display time in 24-hour format.

Only exceptions are the bedroom alarm clock, which can't be set for it, and the couple dial clocks in the house.

My wife, when we were setting up her new range, was disappointed when it at first looked like it didn't support it. She prefers the 24-hour clock, too.

I see it's past twelve hundred hours. Time for lunch! (That'd be 12 o'clock p.m., Ryanp225
