Looking at the selection on Netflix, its really not all that great. There are some good Netflix only shows, but the content volume is really not all that great, especially on the movie side.

I slide through the sections, and most of it is repeats, same show in the 'for you" section and also in "drama" "trending" etc.

You can scroll through everything in a couple of minutes, and some things that were there are gone later, so you cant put off watching something if there is something you want to see.

All in all, its OK, has some good content, but you certainly couldn't just live on Netflix.

I am in the process of dumping Dish Network after about 20 years. I pay $125 per month for the service. I purchased a Watch Air over the air wifi antenna with gets me all 4 locals.

This, coupled with Netflix, Sling TV and Hulu will get me enough crap to watch for for about $50 per month.

To me, it's worth about $10 per month.

I've never subscribed to Netflix and I will never give them one single penny of my money.

I tend to go back and forth between Netflix and Amazon. I finished watching Longmire on NF a while back, and now I'm binge watching Babylon 5 and Classic Doctor Who on Amazon. By the time I get through those, Netflix will have updated its content and I'll find something new to watch there. I add Sling to the mix in August for the duration of college football season (ESPN) and then turn it off again.

No, that isn't everything there is on Netflix.

The library of content that is displayed on a device like a iPad, Smart TV, or Roku is just a fraction of what is available.

Get on the computer and browse the library or use the search function. Netflix has about 5600 titles right now.

Enjoying Marcella on NF. Only thing, I wish there was a cc option. If there is I haven't found it. TV remote cc button doesn't help.

They recycle the same well known titles every other month or so. I have a hard time pulling the trigger on something completely unknown, so I find myself in the same boat as you, wondering if there's more.

I tend to be the same way, but I've found shows I'd never heard of but really enjoyed when I do. It can be worth pulling the trigger on a rainy afternoon or a late night when you have nothing better to do!

Their TV interface is VERY weak in my opinion.

They need to completely do it over and make it easier to navigate.

At least they let you subscribe for a month (or two) and then suspend/cancel your account very easily. I got a couple of series lined up I wanted to watch (Breaking Bad being one), and did them all in one month, and then cancelled. I'll do the same in the future when there are a couple of new/interesting shows I want to see.

I watch everything with CC. Netflix has CC with most, if not all, movies and shows.

If there isn't a dedicated CC button that works for your streaming device, then it'll likely come up when you push the options button. If you don't have an option button, then you'll have to play with the app menu. Every device is different, so you'll have to learn how to do it for your specific device.

One of my devices used to make me exit the show, and the CC mode was under Audio option on the title page of the show, alongside the summary and star rating.

Some other options are HBO or Showtime as an add on to one of the services. You can binge shows like Boardwalk Empire or Dexter for a month.

"Cause, y'know, FUCK them AND Netflix!
I know who the first two are (unfortunately -- I wish I had never heard of them), but who is "Susan?"

Disclaimer: I don't know, because I do not watch Netflix, nor anything else, unless I happen to walk by while my wife is watching something. No, I am not a TV snob, I would enjoy watching things like "Justified" or "Sons of Anarchy," but with my hearing loss it is just too aggravating to try to understand dialog, and it's not really satisfying to me to use CC.

Yep. Same with Amazon Prime Video.

Yup.

Back when Netflix had Starz its selection was much better. Now it's just kind of "meh." Occasionally you can find a gem. Right now we're binging on Crossing Lines. We've watched a bit of Turn (get some American history with that one). Of course there was Longmire. Finished Hell On Wheels a while ago. Ozark was good in the first season.

But, yeah: It can take some serious searching to find something worth watching.

Same with Amazon Prime Video.

Right now, between Netflix, APV and OAN we're paying close to $30/mo. for TV. We're wondering if it's worth it.

As for APV, Vudo, etc. rentals: Fuggitaboutit. We aren't paying those kinds of fees for rentals.
