Okay maybe I'm just a crusty old fart but damn I can't help but wonder if this isn't a product of our broken education system.

What's so wrong about "teach me about" or "please explain" or any number of similar expressions?

"Learn me" sounds like something an uneducated hick would say.

Use of proper grammar has gone out the window. Not long ago you could generally count on the media to have proper verb subject agreement. Not anymore. Civility, dress and courtesy have become somewhat rare. It is not the educational system, it is parents and society as a whole that are responsible.
