Re-read it 400m. The question should be why advertisments keep doing this. Go watch some ads, op could have said it better, but it's a strange thing you'll note they do in multiple ad situations. I get what he's saying. Not trying to put anyone of any color down. | |||

I agree, white males seem to be the butt of TV commercials, while women and people of color in particular are depicted to be the more rational ones. This has been going on since last century. I gave up on network sitcoms back then due to the constant male bashing and family values bashing. Of course companies have customers of all kinds. I have no problem with ads promoting to those groups. The denigration of certain demographics is unnecessary, yet it has been a favored strategy for decades. | |||

There's a local outdoor clothing company here that makes outstanding products. Everything from ski parkas to summer bicycle shorts. Their mens winter catalogs have been almost exclusively non-white models. Good looking athletic men for sure that show off the products very well. But completely non-representative of demographics on the ski mountain or around town. Were the ratio of races not so vastly unrealistic, I would never notice the model's races. The virtue signaling over rides the business sense. I wear their clothes daily. If their marketing denigrated me, it would be a different story. | |||

Yep, the one that used to piss me off, royally was a Best Buy commercial. I make a point, to NOT watch commercials. It was much easier watching sports when I had satellite cable and a DVR. Every commercial break, if live, I’d get up, do some house chore. Even when I used to watch the FesterBowl, I’d pause it and wouldn’t start the game until half time. FF through all the bullshit commercials. But that BB commercial was the start of this shit as far as I remember. A couple, walks in, and the male loses his shit, acts like a fucking child, makes fucking child noises, and just runs. Other companies followed suit. Even a few years ago there was a Progressive commercial for motorcycle insurance. Dude is riding. Bike breaks down or something. His wife picks him up. And somehow, that must be a fucking miracle..the bike in the next scene, is somehow crammed into a SUV/CUV (impossible in reality). Wife is driving the CUV and says “Daddy just HADDD to get a bike”. Husband is sitting the front passenger seat like a 10 year old boy who just got caught at school, throwing shit. Marketing and advertising is a plague on society. Haven’t regularly watched commercials since the 90’s, same as you Fly-Sig. It was old then. I had zero control of my color. I had zero control of my sex. I had zero control that I was born in America. Life is a lottery. Sex, nor skin color, determines IQ and thinking ability. I’ve had an aversion to marketing and advertising since I was a young child.
