I went out to hop in the truck to go get a sheet of plywood. Battery is dead. Huh.

Grabbed my small jump pack. It's dead. Well, poop.

Grabbed my big jump pack. IT'S dead! @#$%!!!

Dug out my big NAPA charger/booster, and IT'S NOT WORKING EITHER!!!

The more observant of my neighbors - including the hearing impaired - are now aware that I'm not having a good morning.

I did eventually get my big jump pack charged enough to start the truck.

I think the dead battery may be related to a subsequently discovered funky window switch. Driver's button for the passenger window works in manual up/down and auto down but not auto up. I went out and cracked the windows a couple of days ago and suspect the switch might be hanging up and trying to power the window. Or not. I'll let the dealer deal with it.

Problem with the big charger seems to be the rate selector switch. If I fondle it just right I can occasionally get some output. I'll see if I can get a part, but it's like 35 years old so...

God did not want you on the road this morning for one reason or another, think of it that way.

Well, shit. At that point, I would have started freaking out, thinking the EMP attack had just happened

Funny you should mention that. That's one of the scenarios that's behind my policy of never leaving home unarmed.

It would have spooked me had I not just been on the computer...

Interesting and timely post.
My son called me yesterday morning. EARLY.
Firstly, he only voice calls me when something is bad wrong.
Secondly, he never calls that early.
I was already at work. He was trying to get to work. Dead battery on his Tahoe. From what he described, I’m thinking dead cell. It has been forevermore hot here lately.
Anyway, he is less than a mile from my house. I told him to get my truck and get to work. We would mess with it when we got home. Only one of the many reasons I have spare vehicles laying about.

Fast forward nearly 12 hours….
Yep. Dead cell. Wouldn’t charge past about 10 volts. So $200 layer we have him a new battery installed.
