Done it three times in the last eight months.

First time was in June last year. Had to take my buddy Clyde. An orange DSH tabby. He developed a neurological issue at 13. He started to lose his balance and eyesight.

Second was Miss Lexi in November. She was a grey and white DSH. Age caught up to her as she was getting close to 18. She was doing great then just suddenly dropped weight.

Then out Samantha Jean. She went on Saturday. She was almost 17 and had IBD half her life. At time she was a diabetic due to the prednisolone but she was a real trooper. Think she look lives from the others as she used more than 9 of them in her time. She was something special.

he wife and I are emotionally spent.

The next oldest is 13 and hopefully we can enjoy her for 4-5 more years before the next trip to the bridge…

uggesta I’ve been there too many times also. It’s never easy.

Take comfort in the thought that you gave them the best you could.

Sorry for your losses.

When I was a teen, we had an awesome cat who was 12 years old and noticeably slowing down. I lived in the Upper Midwest, and the cat was an outdoor cat in the summer and an indoor cat in the winter. My brother wanted a kitten, and the kitten was obsessed with the older cat (i.e. always wanted to play and be with the older cat). We all believe the kitten added years to the life of the older cat as she became more active and lived to be 18.

Perhaps, a kitten would help your 13 year old live longer.

I’m so sorry.
In the last two years, I realized how closely I stacked my pets in age, and I’m going to lose them all right around the same time - unless something untimely occurs.
I really wish your 13 yo a long and healthy life.

So sorry to hear. They are such great companions. We just lost Candy, our one and only pup last Tuesday. I feel like someone ripped my heart out. We had her almost 16 years. But she was worn out.... my condolences.

Thank you for the kind words.

After we lost Lexi in November, we went to the cat show in Denver. It was a couple days later and I was not ready...

However, we found this little stinker. Her name is Gabi and she was 9 months old. She took to me right away and she is now my shadow. I'm a sucker for the grey and whites.

She was rescued from an reservation in Arizona and had a bad upper respiratory illness early on. She may end up with asthma, but that's okay. My first grey and white had asthma and she made it almost 18 years.

She won't grow much larger (if any) so she's a small cat. Her Indian name is Little feet.

I am sorry for your loss. Five of my dogs have crossed the Rainbow Bridge, each one took a piece of my heart. We call them pets, but they are far more than that.

Let me help you out. Which way did you come in?
