We spent a LOT more than that trying save our previous Boxer with a liver ailment and it still wasn't successful.
It took us over four years to get another dog.
Glad we finally found another but the past hurt was bad and the money part wasn't pleasant but we did whatever we could.
So count your blessings and they are not in dollars.
